Do we Have any Mega Rich Posters?

I'm not speaking on that persons behalf but you do know there are some really stingy rich people who care even for $1?

You obviously don't remember Sequoia.

He would have asked his butlers butler to find out the price. Allegedly.

Wasn't there a guy on here a few years ago who had a flat in NY? He gave the impression of being very wealthy and his posts were always very well written suggesting it wasn't just some muppet kid!

Think his username was Sequoia or something like that. Think he gave up posting though due to people giving him grief.

When I lived in marbella I worked for an old american guy in puerto banus on his yacht. He made his millions selling his land to disney land and was the tightest person I have ever known.

His yacht was in a bit of disrepair due to him getting ill and he would never buy new stuff at all if he could help it, Repair it or bodge job it lol. We spent about a week trying to repair an old fridge that had sprung a leak, the amount of gas he bought would have paid for a new one anyway

Just for the record. Real rich people don't drink champagne period. Only poor trying to be rich drink the likes of Cristal, Dom or Krug.

Why of course! It is a little known fact that once you enter the top 0.1% of earners you instantly suffer from anaphylactic shock if you even sniff champagne.

Alternatively, what you've said is wrong and from what I've seen - it is.

Interesting. I've worked for some fairly wealthy clients in the past and, whilst some barely drank alcohol at all, the majority had quite a penchant for the sparkling stuff. What is true, however, is that "new money" tends to splash it around considerably more than "old money".

I'm so rich that I deliberately mix the finest champagne with imported vials of sweat from depressed baboons. I then send the concoction to a private laboratory on a private jet to get it distilled back into champagne. When it arrives back I drop the bottles out of the top window of my mansion onto a Ferrari that once gave me a static shock when I opened the door.

(I'm not rich, but that's what I'd do if I were..)

Mumm is OK, Cristal, Moet and Krug is a label.

I prefer Veuve TBH :o

On the whole I drink Ruinart as it balances quality and price rather better than the "celebrity" brands. Unfortunately, my merchant ceased trading a while ago so I have to get it shipped in direct which means I have to buy rather a lot to make it worthwhile.

Mumm is rank. As is Moet.

Ruinart is OK, but I'd take an older vintage Louis over a Ruinart (price wise). Again, depends on what you are after.

I'd take a Mercier over most "known" shop UK brands like; Moet, Tatt, Lanson, Mumm, Pommery, Veurve, Bollinger etc. for their NVs.

I'd listen to randomshenans over anyone else on this forum when we're talking about champagne.

So yes, Mercier is where it's at!

May be an interesting thread? "Who do you consider the forum authority on X?".

Not really, I imagine it would be a hot bed of people who 'think' they are the forum authority on a subject.

I assume you would like to be the alcohol expert?

My mate lives in a normal 4 bed house, goes to our local 3 times a week, drinks lager, wears normal clothes, holidays once a year in Florida and drives an 08 Landrover.

He has £20m in the bank. Yes, I don't understand it either.

Don't see anything wrong with that? Just because you are rich doesn't mean you have or want to go in live in a mansion in Monaco.

If I ever came into megamoney I'd buy a decent sized detached house in a nice area and then spend 90% of my time living a 'normal' life like you're mate. I like my life and wouldn't want to change it to an extreme, just never having to worry about money, always being able to go out, take regular holidays and have nice gear in my house would be more than enough for me. Niether am I a big petrol head so a new BMW M3 would probably be as flash as I'd go.

Besides, I'm not a big fan of champagne anyway, even if it is made out of crytals ;)

Which would be interesting! I think it's interesting the impression that people present themselves in and how different people pick that up. Obviously, you'll get the usual prats who think they know it all but I'm sure we all know them already!

Plenty of people on here who know much more than me about certain alcohol (randomshenans and Stan_Lite being the two that jump to mind straight away). I may be able to challenge R_Evans for the IPA title...

Nah it would be a **** waving contest, you also exclude people that know about stuff but don't generally talk about it, like IPA for instance, I know my ales but don't tend to venture into the beer threads.

Meh, you probably have a point. I just love watching willies flying around.
