A nippy car for up to £15k

If you say so.

Your list is over-simplistic, mini fox. You're jumping on the spreadsheet decision bandwagon again. You think no one has ever bought a car that was slower and more expensive than its predecessor and it still be a rational decision for them? I'll give you another clue: your list doesn't mention fun factor, chuckability, brand appeal, or looks.

Brand appeal, Peugeot, now you have really lost the plot. You can stop with the sly fox digs now, it's not 2010 any more.

There isn't really anything the 208 GTI can do better than a Focus ST, apart from the fact it might be more 'chuckable' and it's a bit newer. By all means buy a better quality car with brand appeal and other things that make up for the fact it's smaller with less power, but when there's 3 better cars the occupy the same area... why bother. You'd be bored with it after 2 weeks. That fact we're talking about turbocharged 3 litre RWD BMWs now says it all really.

Go make a thread about the Fiesta ST vs the 208 GTI. My thread isn't about that, it was asking for ideas for my next car. The 208 was just one car of many.

What's wrong with mentioning it then? And why wouldn't I mention other cars in a similar vein to the 208 GTI? I'll drop it anyway, as I've seem to have upset you for some reason.

Exactly. Like I stated earlier, I just had a new shiny toy syndrome for a minute :p It was just something I was looking at, but I wanted to hear the opinions of the people on here of there cars which are within my budget.

Janesy you haven't upset me at all. It's just pointless going on about it. Especially after I'd stated it was only an idea and I've since moved on to talking about others cars.

I'm not going to lie I wouldn't mind swapping my Focus ST for the new Fiesta ST. But no way would I pay £15k for a small hatchback! I'll wait a couple years until they reach the £6k mark.

As for £15k, the list is fairly endless. You're better off having a look around, test drive a few, then come back with a shortlist. Then people can give you honest opinions on pros and cons between them.

Nippy?

I keep hearing this word to describe cars. My mother described her Fiesta as "nippy". My friend's automatic Fiat 500 is also "nippy".
No one describes their 911 as "nippy" or their Nissan GTR.

I can only assume that "nippy" means "crap and slow".

I say nippy to describe "small and nimble". E.g. 1300 mini, bored out, webber carbs etc with rear seats removed = A nippy mini.

i have developed a recent soft spot for impreza STI hatches. the back is vile but it would be a noticable step up on the ST in terms of power delivery and drive train capability without any of the practicality losses associated with moving to a smaller/sports car.

I think if I had 15k to spend on a car it would go on Impreza hatch or Evo X

Impreza hatches are nice. But offer the same fuel economy as a mid 90's turbo coupe with higher tax and less power.

They also look like hyundai i30's but I do like them somewhat, I did nearly buy one.
