70mph in a 30 zone

Off topic but relevant question: if you get a 12 month ban does that mean after 12 months you have to re-take your tests or do you automatically get your full licence back?

For dangerous driving you have to reapply for your licence and, i believe, take an extended retest IIRC.

I have a friend from university who was caught doing 70+ in a 30 zone (about 6 years ago maybe?). he walked away with a sub £100 fine and a few points....It's not what you know... it's who you know xD

Well having got caught for 96 in a 30 I can tell you they don't like it.
I very narrowly scraped past getting a dangerous driving charge.
Ended up with 12 month ban.
I suggest the OP's mate get a barrister ;)

Cheltenham has a dual lane one way circuit and is (or was, I think it's very calm to what it used to be like in the 90's) and every young un, including myself used to race round town :o
How no one got seriously injured I'll never know. Plenty of walls got knocked down I can tell you that. :D

I even witnessed one in my rear view as he tried and failed to go the same speed as me round the bend :D

Remind me never to drive around Cheltenham!

Was he playing the "how many times over the speed limit can we get?" game? My favourite game!

Depends if they can prove it, they must have some evidence other than his word against theirs or it wouldn't be going to court, was this in a car? that would be scary as it'd take about 10 seconds to get to that speed.. in a town?

Back in 1989 (that makes me feel old)

I got done for speed dangerous and had 6 months off the road & £250 fine for doing 75mph in a 35mph limit...
