Batman Arkham Asylum & City both just converted to Steamworks only

Does it actually play & launch though it usually crashes with a dot.net error then you have to verify the game files on Steam which forces it to redownload 7.2GB then it works as a brand new install.

Thats if you already have installed that is.

Yeah mine was installed weeks ago, it did the update and it plays just fine with the 20meg patch. I only let it go as far as the very first bit where you first take control of batman.
 
Seems that my key (bought from Gamefly a few months back) is not working, like many other people are reporting.. So, I guess I will have to keep waiting.. blah.
 
You can't use your keys on Steam unless they are Steam keys. The gamefly version you got probs uses gamefly's downloader and hence not a Steam key at all.
 
Thank goodness for this thread!!! By pure coincidence I saw that the trading cards for Arkham City had been added and since it's been a little while since I played it through (picked it up in last summer's steam sale) I figured it would be a good excuse to do my new game + playthrough... But having switched machines since then (copied my steam library folder across) I had to do the 1st time install again and couldn't find the CD Key the GFWL prompt was asking me for...

I was getting ready to rage but then saw this :) There's good news and bad news... Good news - I get to play the GOTY edition, which is great, I was annoyed before at not being able to upgrade to it from the standard edition. Bad News - I can't start from my previous new game + anymore, and in fact would have to play the whole game again from the start and do *everything* again (I had 100% collectibles etc. before) hmmm I guess I'll fire it up and see if it's fun enough to want to play it again
 
Hopefully more games that currently use GFWL follow suit as i've got some older games that still use it.

Yes absolutely this - I think I even have a few GFWL games which I haven't gotten around to playing yet (like Dark Souls)... would be really stupid to never be able to play them :mad:
 
Excellent news, makes it a lot easier for reinstalls (no more need to worry about copying the GFWL profile!)

It might even make me replay them... :)
 
I'm thinking about buying the GOTY version of Asylum actually, despite already owning the standard edition retail copy - Just on the basis that it's only £2.49 or whatever, and is a great game I wouldn't mind playing again (and I guess the GFWL disc version won't work when GFWL goes away)

It does bug me that the Arkham City GOTY and standard editions appear as 2 separate entries in my library though (and one of those I can never use again anyway)
 
Several players are also reporting Arkham City has received an FPS boost after Securom removal its now playable on a GTX580 spec GPU with DX11 + Full Monty Gfx @ 1080P higher still needs SLI 680-780 or better :eek:
 
When I played it the first time around I was on a 560Ti and now on a 670 so I'm expecting to be able to seriously crank it :D

Currently still waiting for it to download - 8Gb/17Gb :( Looking unlikely to play tonight
 
Has anyone had any trouble activating theirs through steam?

I've put my code in, and keeps saying invalid code, even got my OH to put it in for me just incase, same thing with her.

Am doing something silly i just know.....
