has anyone seen the 290x forsale on...

It is a chancer hoping to cash in on a victim, who pays well over the top price and the seller sends him one when they are released.

That's what im thinking. Its four days until the auction ends and i reckon the 290x will launch in three days.

but surly they wont just say "right its in the shops now ogogogogogog"...

they have to give a date when its going to be released, yes ?

i could be wrong though.

Not everyone is as clued up as the majority of forum users. Someone could easily see a 290X on fleabay and bid with excitement in the prospect of getting one before everyone else.

That's my take on it and does seem to follow logic...I wished I had thought of it in honesty :D

i would have tought that they would just get fined, or mayben ot even that because it wouldnt be the retailers fault if a member of staff has put one in there pocket.

on a side note. look at there username on the said site. its some sort of blog/review site

Review sites/retailers who break NDA usually don't get preview items as early/at all, as those that don't. Retailers might be punished by reduced stock allocation on new launches, so they lose out on sales.

Of course, it depends on the actual wording of the NDA, which is confidential :D

Looking at that guy's blog, he doesn't seem like a high value proposition for AMD. I wonder if he actually has one...

Out of interest, what would the outcome be if the serial was traced back to a large retailer? Say a staff member had scooped one from stock to auction off? I know said member of staff would get the boot but would the retailer get put on some sort of blacklist?

Yes AMD would not allocate pre-launch stock again to that Etailor.

I've got 100's of R290 series sitting in my warehouse, but no one is allowed them, not even staff, the only people with access is myself and 8Pack as me and him are doing a review in preparation for the launch. :)

If he's a reviewer, it's not his property. If he is somehow connected to a retailer, he's not been authorised to sell it but the manufacturer. What could be made of this legally, IDK, probably nothing. He does run the risk of AMD buying it via a shill and tracking it's origins though, but AMD cut most of their fat some time ago, so who would be watching? I wouldn't want Rory bearing down on my eBay account, that's for sure :D

A press or an ES sample is clearly labelled, as such easy to tell, unless he removed all the stickers, in which case pretty suspiscious and not very honourable. Can't see a reviewer selling a card, would be dumb as they'd never get a sample again.

It is probably just a scammer!

Sweet :D, that is gunna be one good arse review :)

Mainly benchmarks, not game testing, but the games side there shall be plenty of reviews very soon, so we don't need to duplicate what other sites are doing.

Were focusing on benchmarks, overclocking performance etc. Some will complain, but hey its better than no review and at least in our hands we can establish what they can really do and how to get the best out of them. :)

Gibbo, off topic, do you have any idea when FM2+ boards and Kaveri APUs are landing? I know you can't say a date, but is it soon, possible Christmas present or something to play with next year? :D

That will have more credence for me than any of the others. I'm really interested in how far it can go overclocked compared to GK110. I'm assuming you an 8 pack are going to overclock the nuts of it :-D. Look forward to that review.
