Batman Arkham Origins

Bought this at lunchtime. Five hours play later and I am hooked. Has the same mechanics and control system as the previous Games and is set in Gotham City itself. Storyline so far not as good as Asylum, but not bad.

I would say the story is better.

The game suffers a lot if slow downs :( and the world is not as polished as AC. Not as many grapple points when gliding and so on.

I know ill get a lot of flak for this, but why on a PC hardware forum when everyone has decent spec PCs would people buy a console version of a game over PC? It's more expensive, doesn't look as good and runs much, much slower.

Not saying consoles don't have their place, because they have a ton of exclusive titles that are well worth it but I don't see the attraction in getting more expensive, inferior multi plats. ;/

Big screen gaming, quite simply.

ive asked myself this many times and still dont have a answer, only things i can think of is trophies/gamerscore, no worries about it crashing what so ever, maybe because my buddies have all got consoles too and i can easily chat with them when playing. i still do play batman ac on the pc now and again, but its only usually to test a new overclock lol.

its crazy because i spent much more time and had much more fun on burnout ps3 than i did on pc version which looks miles better and is smoother. i was a graphics guy at one point where i had to have everything maxed out but not so much now and i have consoles to thank for that and i am greatful, nfsmw looks much better on pc but you know theres something about the lower quality on ps3, sometimes it lookes more real lol....

another reason why i prefer consoles just popped up. because everyone else is seeing exactly what you are seeing and we are all on a level playing field, even down to the controller. its very comforting.

I play my games on a 42" TV, you play yours on a small monitor.

I play on a 27" 2560x1440 monitor - you play on a TV with far worse PPI.

II put a disc in and play a game, you start trouble shooting problems for a day before you can.

That never really happens.

IMy console stays the same for years, you constantly upgrade your hardware at great expense.

He's taking about people who already have both.

IWe have GTA V, you don't.

That's assuming exclusivity of console and PC gamers which he already said he was alluding to people who had both.

:)

Console games crash too :p I can definitely see the benefit of BF3/CoD and other multi plat MP games on consoles. Can't say as I'd agree on everything else though. I own both and prefer the multi plats for the cheapness more than anything.

I switch between my little 21" monitor and a 32" flat screen depending on what I want to play, only takes about 20 seconds too.

Yeah, pretty sure it takes me about 10 minutes to download a game and then it works, how longs it take you to wait for the postman or hike down town?

Constantly? I'm on my 2nd CPU and GPU rofl. Sure it's more expensive, but you get what you pay for.

Oh, don't I?

I asked why people would get a single player multi plat game on console when I know full well some of them have good PCs, it's a legitimate question. Not an insult to consoles.

If only you knew how you sounded... :(

Why didn't you just respond like that in the first place? Lol. A lot of people drift in between PC and console forums on here like myself, just wanted some opinions from those who would get a game like this on console instead of PC when they have both options is all, as I'm on the other side of the fence.

Honestly? I was just listing a few things that pull people away from PC gaming and towards consoles. You decided to interpret the list as some form of insult or childish attack, which it wasn't mate.

All I've done is added more to what I've already said, fluffed it out with some waffle :p. I used to love PC gaming, I spent hundreds of hours on game like Guild Wars, Star Craft 2, C&C and many other titles. I simply don't have the time anymore. I work a lot and my career is my priority over gaming now. I do miss spending full weekends with mates on Ventrilo playing Company of Heroes but times change. PC gaming only offers superior graphics on high end PCs, consoles provide a more than adequate platform for casual gaming :).

Obviously if you're a serial gamer then I'm sure you feel differently and that's fair enough.

I dunno mate, PC gaming isn't any slower or more time consuming than console gaming. I work 40 hours a week and can still sink plenty of hours into both. It all depends on the games really, a lot of the PC exclusives are huge time sinks like the ones you listed above, but you can do everything that you're doing on consoles on PC too :p it's just opinion I guess. It only takes 5 minutes to hook your PC to your big screen and all the big titles support pad and big picture. There is a little bit of faffing about though I'll agree, so if you'd rather be without that then it's fair enough aint it. :)

Don't get me wrong there are times I regret the 1k I dropped into my PC and probably more into what ends up being personal vaporware on Steam, but it's awesome having the choice.

So batman then...

yeah I was starting to look for the batman opinions and impressions of the game on consoles, instead reading about the merits and cons of pc vs consoles.

I've play both batman games on consoles ps3 actually and was wondering what the experiences of this game were on consoles...

Been playing it some more today on teh xbox. Graphics are slightly improved (better textures over AC) but theres two major hiccups I came across:

A)- Too many slow downs / stuttering (even in cut scene vids lol!)
B)- Gameplay is a tad slower than AC - This means the fighting is much easier - for example - the symbol an enemy is about to hit you appears yonks before they actually do (makes it much easier to counter).

Otherwise - its more of the same except a different map basically. I thought it was going to be pretty linear like the first one but after just getting out of the batcave I was pleasantly surprised to see the map was huuuge! :)

My save game just corrupted. Maybe about 25% of story complete....not happy.

Seems it is quite a common issue if you look at the Arkham forums. Ah well, better start a new game tomorrow.

Impressions are if that you liked Arkham City then Origins is more of the same :)
