Latest wind gust estimates based upon 0z model data:
Up To 60mph – South Wales, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire
Up To 70mph – Inland parts of South-West England, Central Southern England, South-East England, East Anglia, Channel Islands
Up To 80mph – Coastlines of South-West England, Central Southern England, South-East England and East Anglia
So a slight downgrade in the severity of the storm from the overnight period. This does not mean that we are out of the woods – the difference now is that the risk of gusts above 80mph has become much lower.
However, generally winds of 60-70mph are still expected inland across Southern England and Wales, with the potential for gusts of 75-80mph along Southern and South-Eastern coasts.
So whilst there has been a slight downgrade in the severity (some model runs yesterday were showing gusts of 80-90mph), the situation remains the same with the potential for disruption across Southern Britain during tomorrow.
