Hello all, as the title suggests why can this card be picked up for under £400:confused:
It appears to match the specs of other brands cards which are twice the price?
What am I missing here ?
Thanks all
mrix

i was also wondering
all cards are identical apart from the stickers, all made by amd. asus, xfx etc just put there stickers on them,
the only other differance is warranty asus is suppose to best with 3 year
xfx is suppose to be poor in europe ok in usa
i was gonna get a xfx cannot make my mind up dont think a can wait on overclockers getting the asus in gonna be 2 weeks
also the xfx warranty is sorted by the seller ie internet site where u buy it.

No - It's just available for a mega good price :)

The cards are all the same, but XFX warranty is poor. If the retailer refuses to help you with the warranty, you're screwed basically, as XFX won't want to know.

The retailer cannot legally refuse to help you. A warranty is in addition to your statutory rights. You should sort any problems with the dealer direct and any dealings with the manufacturer should be dealt with by the dealer. A customer going direct to the manufacturer is not recommended as you will void any rights under the sale of goods act.

I have had a few XFX cards and tbh never had any issues other than poor cooler design on the Ghost cards.

I've paid the extra £30 and gone for the 3 year warranty. Just have to wait for the car to come in to stock.

Try telling the particular retailer selling these cards that ;) If they actually verify the problem, the chances are they'll offer a 25% refund or something rather than a replacement. I've had to go down the legal route before to get them to follow the law, and no longer use them.

Perhaps they stopped handpicking the most 'power efficient' GPU's for 7990 and are just using up all reserves? or using the best ones in 280X now instead? who knows.

A car for £30...

I would not personally buy from them. £30 is a small price extra to pay for better service that OCUK provide.

The value on this card looks great and I am very tempted on the ASUS version listed on this forum with the 3 yrs warranty
I guess now my only concern are noise levels, I have been very used to a Gainward 680 phantom which I purchased here, has been great, low power, runs very cool and so so very quiet.
I would be so very annoyed to purchase something that made a racket.
So Noise and heats levels would be a concern.
Thanks

At the current prices the 7990 is tempting me a lot, such superb value.

And as for that other retailer I've had great service from them, had my MSI GTX680 replaved twice for the same fault (once within a month of purchase then again after 18 months) and they processed the whole thing quickly and efficiently. The ASUS card was right decision however (can't comment on OCUK's service as I haven't bought from them in a little while, although around ten years ago I accidentally ordered two of the same CPU's and would've been charged a 15% restocking fee for returning one so I auctioned it instead).

It's not that cheap at all. Look at the price of 2x7950's or even 7970's and they are cheaper and close to it. Overclock them and you have faster. You get more memory with the 7990 granted, but thats it.

OcUK had change of ownership over a year ago. This can be clearly seen in our google ratings improvement, also winner of service awards now. Plus we give our customers a 14 day DSR period instead of the uk law of 7 days.

Our aim is to be simply the best!

Then what other etailor shows you what new cards can do with a review and overclocking results and guidance on how to get the best out of the new cards, whilst also supplying an unlocked bios for download, no other competitor does. Plus staff here to help on these forums 24/7 too. :)

Our aim is to be number one. :)

Gibbo
Are the Asus 7990 gonna be on time? Don't really wanna wait more than 2 weeks
Also if I pre order one can I change to something else if something else comes along I want?
Thanks

Great :D, I hadnt realised this.
I had some bad experiences initially with OcUK (5 years ago or more), this explains why things have changed, I have not had anything other than perfect service recently from OcUK. I have had issues with this other e-tailor I suspect you are discussing, I have to return a product to them soon that a friend bought :(

The fans aren't too noisy. It gives off a bit of heat so it's better if you've got a side fan. The 7990s have coil whine though, but most people say that it's only noticeable in menus and things.
