What's the verdict on this? Is pace still the be all and end all? Oh and are the lofted through balls and finesse shots still hilariously overpowered?

Pace is still king, finesses suck though to be honest and goalkeepers make the most hilarious, ludicrous saves the world has ever seen.

Crosses are the most frustrating thing in the game by a country mile but because passing football just does not work, it's all people do. CBs just refuse to mark or just get outjumped ridiculously.

I love it, suits my style of play and having so much fun with skill and finesse.

Is it like last year, where regardless of the player they can easily hit pin point 40 yard lofted through balls with their weak foot while off balance? :D

I miss having a footie game to play and PES is just a dire bunch of arse so there's no way I'm buying that.

So it's pretty much about who has the best physical stats yet again?

Oh FFS if you still cant play this as a passing game I think Ill be selling my next gen copy. I enjoyed the quick play I had at my local HMV on the weekend, felt far more physical in how players interact and was more satisfying when you scored. Scoring did seem easier than I expected though...

It's just about having a tall striker, quick wingers and an X button. It's an incredibly frustrating game because passing, dribbling and first touch are all so poor that you have no option but to play **** football where you just spam lofted balls or crosses.

You play pretty similarly to me - it's much, much better than 13 for that. You can shift defences around and find space more easily, and strikers make much more useful runs.

To be honest, I play a passing game and have been really enjoying it. Yes, cross-spamming is a pain, but you've just got to learn to tackle wingers. The best thing you can do is find two fullbacks without high attacking workrates.

To be fair finesse shots do work , but the player needs the trait.

Overall I think its pretty good, it has its faults sure but what game doesn't?

I'm assuming that defending corners is basically hammering the circle/B button and hoping your CB actually does something other than fall over or stand there? :p

Unfortunately all online games are exploited by people using the easiest/most effective tactics. Playing it like real life just doesn't work and never will.

Cool, really hope I can enjoy it and thought best to avoid the current gen version so at least the next gen version seems fresher, I doubt Im gonna play UT this year, its lost its appeal and Ive played it constantly since FUT10 - actually looking forward to Club mode...

U wot ?! Dis B da FUT thread dontcha no ??????

:p :D

I joined the pace abuse team last night and got Sturidge and Eto up front.... yea pace is still pure win :D I won 5 games in a row with that team.

Eto'o and Sturridge with Hunter :o

Oddly enough thats the chem cards I have on them :D Its freaking sick how fast they are  I can see why people get annoyed by it. But I started to get annoyed at losing all the time from either pace abuse or cross spammers.

I've yet to score a good 'footballing' goal in 14 to be honest.

I've scored some that have been really nice well worked goals, and plenty that haven't, one that stands out was Tevez playing the ball from the left wing at the halfway line, a normal lobbed pass upto Diamanti about 30 yards out and 10 yards in from the sideline, just caught it perfectly and had the most amazing curling finish (into the udnerside of the bar on the way in) not your typical OP Fifa 13 long shot, it felt like a real life first time strike, hitting a moving ball first time for your shots this year really is the way to go for the wow factor on shots.
