AMD R10 "Zeus"

Lol at Zeus. A10 surely implies an APU? And surely it far too early for a dual 290X.

Could be a dual card, looking back the 6990 was only a few months (about 3 irc) behind the 6970, 5970 was a similar thing where it was around 3 or so months behind the 5870. The 7990 was the odd one out of the bunch so maybe they're trying to get back on track with how they used to release dual cards.

If it is a single card it would be interesting would show AMD not willing to just give the top performance card to NVidia.

But what could they do ? Higher clock + a few extra odds and sods with a good cooler.

Whatever R10 Zeus ends up being, after speaking to my source it seems to be real, and I believe is intended to counter GTX780Ti...
So a secret weapon from AMD? Well, we could hope. The more things shaking up the pricing the better :D

If Nvidia really released the GTX780Ti, and AMD really release this "Zeus" on them, it would certainly get them some very good publicity in showing "who's boss" :D

This long dragged out game of chess is certainly heading into climax stage...if AMD really got a hidden hand, then I say good for them.

I'd probably just get a new phone instead when I get paid this month, and then look at the state of the graphic market and upgrade when I get paid next month or so :P

You mean... it's coming NOW???

You finally got to post that pic :D

Lol. Highlight of the thread for me.

To be clear, I don't know anything for certain, but I mentioned I'd heard rumour of this "R10 Zeus" and got a slightly cryptic response along the lines of it being a counter-punch...which has led me to draw the above conclusion.

AMD already have the fastest graphics card with the 7990, but there's a lot of scrapping over the fastest single GPU at the moment...AMD's technology is essentially new, whereas nVidia are just tweaking something that's a few months old now. Maybe there's more in AMD's tank than there is in nVidia's?

my thinking is there is a Zeus just because its a rubbish name
amd are good at rubbish names :)

but hm if its true, it would have to be released at £500+, as the R9 is £450
wouldnt that annoy amd fans more?? for them to release a $500+ card, them being the good guys :)

Edit- ah... never mind :)

So am i but i can't tell if he's serious or not.

No i think hes serious and i believe his comments do hold some weight as hes been right about this sort of stuff before in previous comments. Time will tell no doubt. ;)

If its faster than the 780TI then it will be priced accordingly id imagine.

Would you lot stop coming up with more reasons to wait before I buy a card. I feel trapped in a 'just wait, something awesome will be out next week' situation.

First it was the AMD dev conference, then the R290x, then the 780TI announcement, then the Nvidia price cut. "But wait, there could be an R10" I will not suffer buyers remorse this time, I wont I tell you! :rolleyes:/:eek:

IMO if you are not preparing to pay in the £500 range, then neither the 780Ti or this rumor "Zeus" would be relevant for you...except for how they might drive down the pricing of the GTX780 and 290 Pro- these are the two cards you should be looking at if you are only prepared to pay around £300 range.

Screv never look at prices after you buy thats the best way :)

personally i just see the 780ti being 15% faster than 780 without as good overclocking
unless Zeus has better cooling i doubt its the same card
the R9 would match it with a better cooler anyway should think!?
