**CORSAIR OBSIDIAN 650D OWNERS THREAD** ALL QUESTIONS HERE.

nice, are you going to take out the top hdd bay? I have my H80i on the back as intake, two 140mm on top as exhaust and front 200mm as intake, and ofcourse the psu as exhaust

hi guys, what would be a good adapter to house 2 3.5" hdds and a 2.5" ssd in the 5.25 bays, without changing the look of the front of the case?

The adapter would go in the 5.25" bay

thanks

ALSO, I would love it if you could tell me what all the leads which come from the front of the case are for, so I know which one's I can not plug in and just hide in a 5.25" bay

I had posted this previously elsewhere, but really should have linked here.

I recently fitted the Demcifilter dust filters to my 650d.

Excuse quality...iphone, sun, crap photographer.

I'm only using the top and front filters, rear one just for show.

Hey guys!

So my Corsair 650D just arrived today, and I've spent pretty much 3/4 of the day cable managing and fitting the WC loop, great case, absolutely huge compared to my previous Sharkoon T9!

Anyway's just a question about the front case fan, I don't know about anyone else, but did anyone have to replace their front 200mm fan? I've currently turned mine off as it sounds like a jet engine, I've been looking around and heard that it isn't actually the fan, but just the way its screwed or something?

I'm not sure, but I want to get rid of this noise so can anyone suggest a way or a good quiet fan to replace this?

You need to replace it with one of the Pro Spectar fans.

Not this one

But this one or a different colour:

This one can be reversed. The other can only fit one way. You also might want to use the step down cable thing with it.

The noise is from the front grill which people cut out but I'm happy with just a slow fan as it only takes air out.

As Tobes said, most of the noise comes from the honeycomb grill at the front. I took a pair of pliers to the mesh and replaced the fan with a BitFenix Spectre PRO 200mm. Now when I pop the dust filter back on it's all nice and quiet :) I run the fan through the onboard fan controller at the lowest setting.

The Spectre PRO alone won't sort it, it'll suffer from the same problem as the original fan. If you pop off the front dust filter (just press it at the top), then you'll see the honeycomb mesh right up against the fan. As the fan pulls in air over the mesh, it creates a "whooshing" sound. Cut it out and you're good!

To cut it out you'll need to temporarily remove the hard drive cages, and the entire front panel of the case. There are 6 plastic clips that hold the front panel in.

Here's a picture I just took. I've popped the dust filter off for you, and you can see there's no longer a honeycomb mesh. The red circle I've put on the image shows you the U-shaped rubber tubing I put round the sharp edges of what remained of the mesh after I cut it out.

EDIT: to make myself more clear, the red circle shows where the rubber tubing completes the full circle round where the mesh used to be.

Heh the cut is ugly as sin - super jaggy. I'd take off the rubber tubing to show you, but I'd need to remove the fan in order to get the tubing off (they are wedged in together), and the fan doesn't come out unless the hard drive cage is removed. Not sure if "pliers" is the right word, but here's a picture of the tool I used:

Has anyone cut the wires in the 650D to help with cable management or just because they dont need them? For example, the wires that connect the SSD port on the top, and the wires that connect the case fan controllers?

I'm really considering doing this, as I can't see myself using the case SSD port, or the fan controllers, I'd prefer to get my own fan controller, and I'm having a hard time cable managing, it took me about 3 days and about 60+ cable ties to get everything stamped down, and the right side door is still busting out..

Thoughts?

I haven't cut any of the wires - somehow managed to get everything cable tied in. Not pretty, but you can't see it when the back panel is on :D

I really really wish cases today would have an inch (minimum) or more room between the back of the motherboard and the back panel for cable management. Half an inch isn't enough.

I'd love to see a picture of your 60+ cable ties :) Perhaps then we can offer some suggestions...

Hi 650 owners.

Really quick and hopefully easy questions for you:

1.) There doesn't appear to be a Kensington Slot security lock on the rear or anywhere else can you confirm?

2.) Are the side panels lockable in any form - if one were to use a Kensington cable lock in conjunction with something like this: http://comloc.co.uk/image/cache/data/9mm-screw-on-security-lug-82-900x900.jpg

3.) There appears to be 2 holes on the rear which I may be able to use for locking purposes: http://postimg.org/image/s1z6nby17/

As you may have gathered I'm basically interested in being able to secure this case even though it'll be situated in a fairly secure area it will be hosting some data that will need to have an extra layer of deterrent to potential thieves.

Thanks in advance.

Side panels are really just flat panels rather than the first image you linked which would use thumb screws so you would need to drill into panel to pass a cable through to keep it somewhat safe but you would need to do that with both panels and possibly on both the left and right of the panel.

There are 2 holes in the back as you have circled. Not sure they would be any good for a Kensington lock.

To be honest this probably isn't what you are after in a case if your trying to lock it down.
