BMW and M Power Owners

My diamond key fob is getting quite old and tattered so tempted to replace, but keep hearing horror stories about it being a complete ***** to do, has anyone on here successfully managed to do it? All I want to do is replace the black plastic.

I've seperated mine in the past to change the battery in the fob. You're right, the cases are a pain to open and even worse to get them to close again, I've ended up with a thin layer of superglue around the edges to make it seal properly.

Sounds like a pain, looks like I'll just be living with an aged one then. Thanks for the info.

scratch - How has the interest been selling your car, had much luck yet?

There's guys selling the diamond cases on eBay for not much money, may be worth a look but I'm not sure what the quality is like unfortunately.

May as well replace the battery in the fob whilst it's open if you do try and do an internals swap.

IIRC new keys arent that expensive - a non remote one is only £40, remote about 3 times that from memory

£120 is still a large amount of cash for something that is still fully functional though :/

Yeah it was those that were tempting. Battery could do with replacing too tbh, so might be worth just giving it a go....

Not had any calls at the moment buddy, but then again it's only been on Pistonheads for 3 days and I put it on Gumtree last night. Will start looking at advertising on eBay and Autotrader early next week.

Should be enough for a decent 3.0, will be an early one though.

Only real, expensive issue with them i'm aware of is the roof mechanism. I like the z4 a lot, good fun with reasonable running costs. The m54 feels a bit perkier in the smaller body too

Anyone heard of seen anything to do with this...

BMW DAB+ is in final stages of testing, this unit will add BMW DAB (digital radio) to ANY BMW radio (E cars) including Business Pro radios, CCC, CIC and M-ASK units (via MOST ring).

Gives full emulation of BMW Digital radio as per factory specification with full display on the I-Drive and control via BMW buttons (I-Drive).

Seems interesting instead of doing a proper retrofit of the OEM Dab which is expensive, or the rubbish cheapo thing that BMW was touting a year ago.

It seems pretty unlikely tbh. If you think about the oem head unit in the e46 as an example, I can't see how you could get a good usable DAB interface from that.

It would be welcome though!

Exactly the same way as Intravee turns any BMW display into a usable mp3 system. DAB radio isn't THAT much more complex than FM, there is just more channels...

Many more frequencies/bands too and much more information generally available and displayed (though I guess that's true of FM too now). I can see it basically functioning, just can't see it being very nice to use

Guys, both my 330i key batteries have ran out, if I split apart the casing and replace the battery will they need reprogramming.
