Lol at you and all the other people hating the UK. Typical Brits.

The fact that your were born and raised here gives your point less validity so I have no idea why you've put so much emphasis on that part.

I was born in the UK and have lived in Asia and travelled all my life. The UK is a beautiful, diverse and cultured country with an incredible amount of history, output and contribution to the world for such a small country. We have some of the best living standards in the world despite what people and articles may say, with free and exceptional healthcare, long holiday entitlements, freedom of speech and expression and so many other benefits which we take for granted.

The grass is greener on the other side and all that.

Hope you enjoy your one weeks holiday a year! Your lower salary (but lower living costs) will probably be an issue as well, especially when you have to start paying that medical insurance.

Sorry, I forgot, everyone on this forum is working in high end jobs and you'll be in $100k as soon as you move over there!

Basically your house will be bigger and you'll be able to buy a big gas guzzling truck, not a BMW or import though as they will be too expensive, it'll have to be a cheap, natty American thing.

Wow guys! Thanks for all the positive feedback.. for the most part ;) We live in central Florida now. The tourist hub of the state, Disney, Seaworld, etc. I imagine the temp change is going to be a shock! Either way I appreciate all the good advice, I half expected to get BOO'd off the board. You've given me a lot to think about, thanks!

If you can get over the drop in temperature etc then you might like it. If you are interested in history, we have a lot of that. Lots of castles and historic towns to visit. Very easy to visit the rest of Europe while in the UK as well.

Might be a nice change of scenery from Florida for a while.

I have lived in different countries growing up, and I think it's a tip. Is my opinion invalid?

As an adult i've lived in the States, UK and Australia. The ranking order I put them in is all relevant to me and only me. Different people have different experiences and priorities - there is no definitive answer. These kinds of arguments go nowhere, you're all right (and wrong)

I doubt I would ever move back to England.

Grievances

  • Houses are still ridiculously over-priced in the nice areas.
  • Houses are too small.
  • Gardens are too small
  • Cars are too small.
  • Too crowded.
  • Government is too big.
  • Too much P.C.
  • There is this weird neo-feudal mentality where every single tiny little problem in people's lives has to be deferred to some government authority.
  • Can't own any decent guns.
  • Everything is made overly-complicated and slow.
  • Poor service from businesses.
  • A general canT-do attitude to life.
