Here we go again!!!

Sold an i5 3570K OEM processor on a popular selling site. Sent the item the same say as the payment came through. Not an hour after posting it I received an email saying they bought the wrong one for their motherboard and wanted a refund.

I replied saying they could have a refund once they send it back. Tonight I get another email moaning saying it arrived in a terrible state, no box, manual or fan! here we go....

They have logged a complaint, and I politely replied saying it was in perfect condition and that OEM means you only get the processor. They replied back and I have a feeling reading between the lines they expect me to refund before they send it back.

To be honest, they come across as a bit of a scammer

This isn't ebay btw, the rain forrest site.

Why do I always sell stuff to idiots :(

It did say OEM Processor only, no box or fan

Obviously it was sent in the little oem box you get with the pink foam for protection. Just have a bad feeling about this

One of the things he originally said was that it had damaged on the top, then he replied saying it was unopened.
 
Why not just sell it in the members market?

You get a little less money. But you have no fees to pay, and less idiots to deal with.
 
I sold limited edition nintendo 3DS princess peach edition, £300. brand spanking new. Guy receives it, emails to say it doesnt work. Was working fine when I sent it out, though admittedly I hadn't checked it just before sending it. Was sure the guy was trying to scam me. Eventually (being jungle marketplace) I had to accept the return. I took my phone to the post office so I could record receiving it, opening package, etc, in case he'd put a rock in there or anything.

I bring it home. Try to turn on, doesn't work. I plug it in for 2 minutes to charge and try again. Works fine. FFS WHY DON'T PEOPLE AT LEAST TRY IT!

Probably lost value because it now looks used and took some slight damage to the box from the sending back and forth, so that worked out well. Idiot.
 
I HATE selling stuff on the bay/online after my experiences. Just so many idiots trying to make a few quid. Hope it gets sorted mate as it's annoying as hell when some **** tries it on with you.
 
With MM access there is just no way I would ever sell anything on ebay, it's just not worth the risks as a seller due to the one-sided way of paypal.
 
It does have benefits though. The MM is brutal and people will mercilessly beat you down with a big stick. You will never get near Ebay prices. I sold my i5 760 and Asus P7P55D-E-Pro on the bay. After fees i cleared £145. I would have been lucky to get £100 in the MM.
 
i actually tend to sell on ebay but am just very very careful about it
i havent actually had any problems, i nearly had one with a gpu but the person was just a bit dippy and needed a lot of help via email to be satisfied, he did say thanks after and left very good feedback

the MM is very brutal on price but and the bumping rules are very strict, i sometimes try here first until the price no bumping rule forces the price to low

I tried to sell a HTC Desire HD to CEX. They instantly claimed that it doesn't work or charge. I took it home and charged it then took it back and they accepted it. I thought it was common knowledge (at least to a device tester) that once something is completely flat, it needs a couple minutes of charge to do anything.

Not really.

eBay is way overpriced. On eBay, many things sell 2nd hand for more than you could buy them new.

If you both buy *and* sell on the MM, then for every time you lose money as a seller, you recoup as a buyer. Also, you don't have to deal with scammers, and you know you aren't being ripped off or profiteering.

Good luck getting it resolved asap!

I very very rarely sell anything on ebay anymore, it's just become so fraught with chancers :-(

As an aside, I'm gutted that I will lose the use of the MM when I go to the states (due to postage costs). I haven't found anywhere as good/trusted on an american site :(
 
Might not get a good price on the MM?

Well it's look like he's going to have to refund someone that's broken his CPU.

He's going to be out of money AND out of a product to sell on.
