Battlefield 4 Thread ~ Server details in opening post ~

If I bought the game from Amazon and registered the key with Origin who do I need to pursue for a refund of the game, Dice or Amazon? Quite simply sick of paying EA for games which haven't been tested properly and just want my money back.

Had the game over 24hrs and played less than 5 minutes of gameplay due to crashing.

I'm in 2 minds over trying to get a refund - I'll probably just forget about it and write it off as a loss though.

There's still the option to do it in controls, think the toggle default is X, not 100% sure though.

still getting the odd issue but had some decent games on 64 players servers with less problems than even earlier today, so fingers crossed they've got a better idea whats stuffing things up.

its a mess ! constant messages down screen scrolling that alone will cause people issues maybe even crashes. on servers back in the day people used to spam messages to take servers down yet that has it in the message box doing it the whole game lol.

That's what EA count on though, they've been the slimey lizards of the game dev world for a long time and I'm not going to just sit back and let them take £30 of my money for absolutely nothing in return. I'll be in touch with Amazon tomorrow and report back what they say in case others are in same position.
 
Having more crashes tonight. I've played for most of today without too many server crashes. Tonight though I've gone from server crash, to client crash, to server crash.

That being said though, I only get client crashes when playing domination and at a random point in a game when I'm doing a quick turn :/
 
I really dont understand all these people who are demanding a refund and pretending like the game is never gonna get fixed!! although i do agree that during busy times there has been a lot of crashing!!

Atm they are releasing patches daily via either local or server side which is fixing loads of issues and it has already been said that some features like server queues and reserved slots are coming back really soon as are the fixes for server crashes (next major server update will fix these problems)

If you are crashing a lot there are also things you can do yourself to try and help such as repairing your install and going into your game folder and setting your bf4.exe's too always run as admin also you can change from 32 bit too 64 bit and vice versa too see if that helps !!

The fact I'm running into lots of fundamental bugs all reported in early alpha days and still not fixed in the beta let alone in retail isn't inspiring, they are releasing lots of patches but not seeming to actually fix anything of note.

Ultimately though theres a lot that just doesn't seem to have moved on from previous games, the same bugs, issues or just poor implementation of features, etc. that were present in the last few BF games. Plus there are 10+ year old games that have better "netcode", etc.

For instance I can't bind insert, delete, right control key, some of my mouse buttons (not even the extra buttons which I could half understand) and several other buttons*... (kind of important to me as I'm an arrow keys player) and this was reported like almost 2 years ago as a bug and pretty basic functionality - I might forgive it in a small time indy dev game but its inexcusable from a AAA title made by a major developer.


* Its possible via text editing the config files using scancodes (which I've been slowly working through) or I believe there are 3rd party apps that can do it but its not something I have experience of to know what to use or trust.

I bought this game on a whim, to probably play for a month and not touch again. Why should I have to jump through hoops and prat around messing with system settings for a half-arsed game release which has been distributed with the same bugs that were present in the beta release? They've totally disregarded the PC client-base in pursuit of releasing for console releases as you can tell by the fact their versions have been more or less issue free.
 
I'm not seeing any crashing myself btw (other than when the servers fall over) which is atleast one less negative, its actually been rock solid stable on my setup other than the mentioned times when the server dies.

However I actually want to play the game not mess around for a month plus waiting for things to be fixed that should have been fixed at engine level years ago let alone at game level.
 
Couple of questions,
Anyway to accept a revive that isn't Space bar? cant see where to change it in the bindings. some people say left mouse button should accept but it isn't.

Anyone getting an issue where your keys seem to jam? I think its my keyboard packing in but I'm not sure, I end up stuck walking/strafing sometimes it even beeps when I try and shoot or ADS. I'm fairly sure its the keyboard but I cant be sure

I get that keyboard issue too. Going to try a different keyboard when I get a chance.

Tbh, it isnt perfect. But at least it's not a cod type rehash. But that latter pile of **** will still sell more to the dumb masses. For me cod died a death after mow 1, anything since is a waste of hdd space. The quake engine is starting to show its age.
 
Though whilst im loving the game i have lost 18 games only won 5 and half time its due to being put on losing side just as map is about to change :/

If you're experiencing MSVCR110.dll errors in the event log after Bf4 crashes, don't bother trying to switch between X86 or X64, as I've tried both, and even my friend played at x86 whilst I played at X64, in the same squad in Multiplayer, both our games crashed at the same time. In theory this means if one persons game crashes in the squad, the others may do too.
