Battlefield 4 Thread ~ Server details in opening post ~

So what's the issue then? Is it just that you can't bind some buttons?

Lots of little basic things like settings not always applying, battlelog and ingame not in sync, etc. Starting to become typical of Dice that all the big showy stuff has had a lot of attention paid to it but the basic functionality is an after thought :(

One of the guys that admins our server had this in an Email Today

Known Issues& Fixes

1. Server instability: Probably the biggest problem at the moment. Servers are crashing a lot. Crashes are random and some servers crash more than other.

Current status: Actively being addressed. We have advanced logging in place that logs where and when servers are crashing. DICE is collecting crash logs and have tracked down several bugs which are being fixed for the R5 and R6 patch.

2. Queues and reserved slots not working: At the moment queues are disabled on servers and reserved slots don't work.

Current status: These 2 issues are actually the same issues. For reserved slots to work queues need to be active. After testing the issue has been found and is fixed for R5.

3. Presets are still not really working and servers usually end up as custom: Regardless of whether presets are set to normal/hardcore/infantry the server will almost always show up as custom.

Current status: This is due to the way presets are currently handled by the server. The way it should work and the way it currently works don't match. This is currently being reviewed and redesigned so it works as intended. Expectations are that this will be fixed in R6 or R7.

So R5/R6 should hopefully fix some of the server crashing

Well after finishing campaign mode, my summary of the game so far is that it's rushed. The campaign is very short, shorter then BF3, BFBC2 and the COD games.

The maps are small and not as fun as the others have been, not to say they didn't have their moments, the weather effects and the storm was awesome and the driving section was fun for a short time. I think the weapon balance isn't as good as it should be, the PKM LMG can't hit anything even with bipod down even while holding your breath, the scope just jumps all over the place.

That AA tank can't hit anything to save it's own life, feel retarded shooting some infantry at point blank range and the soldier is like, look at all the cares I give.

Some of the AI scripting in the game isn't as good at it should be for example, the three jets that are taking off in the hanger can't be destroyed at all even with direct hits. The section where you are on the Carrier and about to enter it, the outside map changes so quickly that all the "war" outside just stops and the ships textures turn off to a more dumb mode, felt that was pretty poor.

I did enjoy the campaign for the story and hope to see where the story takes us next year with Battlefield 5. But for now, onwards to MP!

WAY too many people with dial up connections allowed into good servers bringing the gameplay down. Sound also screwing up, reminiscent of bf3?

I've had too many crashes to count today. Normally if I check event viewer I get this:
"Display driver amdkmdap stopped responding and has successfully recovered." Is this being caused by BF4 or an unstable OC? I've not had any problems in other games.

Yeah spent some time in a Tunguska on two of the maps, but my accuracy wasn't that bad with it... or is it not counting the hits with the vehicle but is counting the bullets fired?

I think engi are the new support guys, pdw's just cant hit anything far :P

Battlefield 4 probably pushes PC's harder than anything I've seen to date. No surprise tonnes of people with issues >.<

Engineer questions!

1) How long does it take to unlock a decent anti-tank launcher? Am I waiting for RPGs? Should I just use mines for now? As it is, seems like my best antitank weapon is the welding torch.

2) Is there an early unlock for P90? Like, single player or battlepacks or something? Played against a level 5 engi just now who had it unlocked and it was a rapefest - he was strolling around hipshooting with Red Dot on and easily out-shooting prone, burst firing assault guys at medium range. Obviously, could be a very good player, but that gun does seem superb. Wondered how he got it so early.

similar engine similar problems you are obviously going to get similar or even same bugs as previous dice games . the thing with people warping and such may not be them and could be the servers. this is no different to bfbc2 and had exactly the same problems serverwise.
