I love the fact OcUK GD jumps on the ban the burkha bandwagon rather than see the complete incompetence on the police.
I agree, I do think burkas are ridiculous, and they have quite a vane premise, in that the person seemingly believes that they are so devastatingly good looking that people will be constantly staring at them.
It's the definition of ironic really, as they are doing something to stop people looking at them, which becomes the very reason WHY people are looking at them so much.
However, I don't think they should be banned, I think it's wrong to legislate against things based solely on the dislike of it in terms of a blanket ban.
They should be simply made publicly unacceptable, and I think companies should be free to state that people wearing them cannot enter their business premises, the same way you can't with balaclavas, hoods, helmets and whatever else.
That will then make the people who truly choose themselves to wear them (for often misguided stupid reasons) reassess their choice, and decide whether the trade off of not being able to go shopping, to the bank or anything else is worth adhering to something that isn't actually religiously mandated.
