*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

Been playing with mine little over an hour now. First impressions are good. The screen looks (to me) like a massive improvement over my Note 2 and the UI is very, very smooth.

I know it is plastic but it doesn't feel plasticy, feels a quality build if a little sharp on the edges. At least to me.

Loving mine so far, coming from an iPhone 4S. Only issue I seem to have is that the phone won't pick up my home WiFi SSID. It just doesn't appear to connect to. I have switched the phone from auto to 2.4GHZ/5GHZ and nothing works. Laptop/iPhone/Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 all work without issue.

Router is a Billion 7800N. Anyone have any ideas?

Does the Router give you a range of channels to select from on the config page?

I had to change my route channel off 13 to set up mine.

13 was fine on my N4, but I've not bothered changing it back to see if the N5 is cool with it now it's set up for UK.

Indeed, I'd never consider spending £350-400 on a phone. The Nexus 5 is fantastic for £295. Sure - there is better hardware out there, but not close to that price point. I'm not interested in in best phone, I'm interested in the best value phone. It's subjective, of course, but for me this is significantly better than anything else.
Agree ... I'm very tempted by the N5 and while for what it is it does appear to be brilliant value I'm still struggling to justify spending that much on a phone (especially as I'd be looking at the 32GB version). Other possible options could be S3 - ok a year old but now around £240 or possibly an Xperia SP - one notch down from top of range but probably only £180 on PAYG upgrade at P4U.

So is an N5 £100 better than an S3 or £160 better than an Xperia SP?

I was hoping to go naked with this one but it looks like I will have to get a case as I find it a bit too slippery. I'm thinking maybe the Spigen Neo Hybrid?

Anyone have any recommendations for a Lockscreen widget for text/missed calls/e-mail notifications? It's the one thing thats makes me miss IOS so far, i keep missing texts and calls because theres nothing on the lock screen and no little number above the icon.

This has a snapdragon 800 currently the fastest CPU out a 1080p screen , nicely designed phone , on the speaker does let it down . will always have the latest android , its super fast and doesn't lag. The camera is more than good enough , hell I got a lumia 1020 with the best phone can out but am going to sell it as this is a much better phone IMO.

Try Dashclock. There are also other dashclock extensions on the play store that you can download once you install the main app.

All setup and love this. It is good improvement on the nexus4. Only concern how do you know if you lose connection to the Google servers ? As it used to be blue signal wise and grey if the connection with Google was lost

Thanks, I had been playing with a few but Dashclock seems to be by far the best, it's just a shame that it doesn't give a preview of the texts although I bet there's an extension to do it.
