Google devices

I'm dumbfounded that the iPhone 5s costs double in comparison for lesser spec vs the Nexus 5?
It's the Apple tax, innit.

You can say the same for most Apple products. You can spec a laptop similar to a MacBook for about 50% of the cost. Of course you won't get the same quality shell. Or kudos from the other patrons in Starbucks.

This isn't old news, its not just the iPhone5's, its most apple products.

Overpriced, overrated fashion accessories.

It's not just Apple though is it, you won't get a better specced device for the same price you pay for a Nexus model because they have little to no profit margin.

They don't spend it though, look at their accounts.

Who cares what they do with it ? They can stick it where the sun don't shine for all I care. I've never owned an Apple product and never will, so it doesn't bother me. My PC/Phone needs are satisfied amply by cheaper and better products.

Well share holders for one, maybe an increase in their dividend. Because ultimately they have been the reason for their growth on the back of their innovations.

The Nexus 5 is sold at close to the cost of manufacture. The iPhone 5S has a massive profit margin built in.

You can do the same comparison with say a Samsung Galaxy S4 or HTC One. Lesser spec than Nexus 5 and yet cost over £150 more.

Or in the light of the new MBA, anything with as fast an SSD either.

Very true, just goes to show what value for money their devices are. :)

Lots of money to be made in product markup and Apple are doing it well but then so is Samsung who have just made $9.56 billion profit. A Samsung Galaxy S4 costs around $250 to produce but sells for over double that. The iPhone 5 costs even less to produce. Google just don't choose to rip off their customers.
