someone talk some sense into me...

All this is totally irellevent pgi947, whatever you keep, whatever you buy... Once MSI bring out some lightning 290's! Along with water blocks, you won't be able to resist!

It's a vicious circle. :D

+1 for crossfire.

The only let down of the 290's is the cooler. Liquid cooled 290x's in crossfire. Tasty.

Am usually Nvidia biased but here is the article showing AMD has fixed the frame stuttering issues with the new 290 cards that no longer use a Crossfire bridge:

http://www.hardocp.com/article/2013...x_crossfire_video_card_review/10#.Unnf23lwa6o

About 2/3 down the page. Shows improved scaling in the rest of the article for Crossfire too. At the time of writing the Nvidia cards were having issues with 4k in SLI which is also mentioned but I think that is more likely to be a temporary problem.

I'm going to sit on it just now and see what time brings, might buy another monitor instead :)

I won't be touching another lightning on 28nm, I went through 3 7970 versions and spent far too much money on them in the process.

That's interesting about the lack of crossfire bridge too, that said I never realy had any issues with 7970 cf with regards to frame pacing etc...solid cards.

Haha I wish, my mrs would freak out and beat me :(:p

21:9 is looking a likely option just now, decisions decisions.

I'm really wanting to try out 21:9 too ...

I'm not interested in desktop space or productivity as it would be used just for gaming and I'm really liking the increased fov it gives you. Just haven't ...quite ..pressed....BUY yet

I want to get a 21:9 monitor to play with as well, but I won't get one now until G-sync support is included. I'd imagine the announcement of G-sync actually hurting the sales of the current range monitors quite a bit :p

Am in the same boat Paul, on the face of it 2 x 290's is a damn good buy but will the performance of the 780ti's blow everyone away?
Think about things for one more day P whats another 24 hours ;)

Some good deals just gone up on two.

His 290 @ £309 & the regular phantom at £390!

Reports on the ti look like titan perf with 3gb memory at a likely daft price.

pgi why not grab 2x290's for £309 a piece? Seems a better deal. Unless money is no object of course.

Give those ti's a run for their money in the bench threads ;)

I'm now basing my purchase on what waterblocks I can lay my hands on, all I'll say to those waiting on pre order ek blocks is you might be in for a long wait, spoke to a wc specialist retailer eariler, they aren't due some blocks until early 2014...
