Mate of mine just sold a 20 year old Lotus Elan for £8k. He made a £1k profit on it despite having owned it for 3 years.

Wondered whether the S2000 could prove to be a depreciation proof car either now or in the future? Or is it the case that simply too many were made?

Can't see them going much lower than 4-5k, get a clean one, keep it clean it should loose no money. Buy a newer 15k one and it will still depreciate.

If I was buying an S2000 again I'd be looking for a bargaintastic clean 04 to 55 year car at a great price, maintain it well and you'd stand to loose little to nothing.

miss my s2000. Screaming engine was pure madness. Wanted a supercharged one but there was never many about and in the end I found a supercharged e46 m3

I miss mine too. Best car I've ever driven.

If I get another, I'd get a 2004-2006, yellow, black leather. And probably keep it totally stock.

If I had to mod, I'd go N/A.

Password JDM Intake - Basically a bigger J's Racing intake
J's Racing Exhaust Manifold
Decat/Sports Cat
J's Racing 60RS Dual Exhaust

And then a proper tune by Mase, with an AEM EMS. Lovely, loud, responsive power.

There's nothing else I want except a z4m convertible
There isn't much around that is raw like a go kart,
But more practical than an elise
Will punish you if you are stupid
Is a two seater soft top

You have to spend beyond the cost of z4 3l top output to get something noticeably better imo

Mine is also the most reliable car I have ever had, and everyday I drive it I genuinely smile

Deffo a classic. People will look back in this as an era of when you could buy a sub £30k 2 seater car with 'racing ethos' and a 9000rpm rev limit.

Every drive is an event

I was thinking the same thing recently about it not depreciating much. Definitely think you would need to get a facelift though.

I think a mint early one will be my next car. The pre-facelift is great looking, as the years went on, they seemed to get less and less tasteful with extra bits grafted on, bigger fancy wheels, led lights etc

This one on ebay right now is lovely!

i quite fancy a face lift and will get one if i cant justify a z4m in the next few years

it will be orange also

I think they will become a classic, havent noticed prices drop that low on them over the past few years

Prices have remained the same over the two years I have been monitoring.

Don't seem to have dropped too sharply this winter either.

Good luck finding a facelift in orange too.
