*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

Not a real test by any means but the best idle battery performance I've seen from any smartphone.

90 mins screen time, 30 mins talk time, some photos as well.
ART enabled, Google now disabled.

leaves tomorrow? should be with you on Wednesday

We don't live in America so you're safe.

On the orders page it says Leaves warehouse in 4 - 5 weeks. Then you click on info next to the order and it says Leaves warehouse on 12/11/13
Do they mean 11th December? I know the Yanks use month/day/year format.....

Order status is still "PENDING"......

Took my phone off charge at 0530 today. Listened to podcasts constantly between 0700 and 1930 using Doggcatcher and got home with 70% battery level! To compare, my SGS2 with CM10.1 would have been running on fumes at that point.

To say i'm happy with battery life would be an understatement!

12.5 hours of music and only 30% used? Were you running in airplane mode!?

Probably has something to do with that new audio tunneling they put into Kitkat and the Nexus 5. Google said that listening to audio should suck significantly less juice.

That's what i was thinking. Doggcatcher has had some recent updates so i wonder if one of them was to take advantage of that, or perhaps it happens automagically. Either way, it's pretty awesome. I'm almost certain running in ART has had some benefit too. It's hard to quantify but i reckon i've gained about 10% a day from that alone.

Thinking of selling my ip5 and going for this.

Anyone done the same? Or with a galaxy?

Or would you say so OMG WTF STOOPID if I were to ditch apple.

:)

Just sold my N5, gonna keep my N4. The £200 outlay to upgrade just didn't seem worth it.

Got more useful things to spend that money on at the moment like a 750d PC case and a new PSU.

I really liked the phone, especially the feel in the hand, and with the polycarbonate back I felt it really shouldn't need a case to spoil that but for the silly protruding vulnerable lens.

On previous phones I've had, whether they ios based, Android or Windows Phone, the screen illuminates when an email or Whatsapp/SMS message is delivered.

With my N5 I hear the phone vibrate on the desk but it doesn't light up for me to have a quick glance to see if it's worth picking up and reading.

Is this normal with 4.4 or have I overlooked something in settings?

I don't think I've experienced this with android, would love to know if it's possible.

Miss it from muni phone days:p

OMG WTF STOOPID! Why have you waited so long - get it done.......... NOW!

Ha, why :)

I particularly hate my Nexus 7 tablet i was given for work, not the new one obviously. It is extremely slow and my work email just doesn't work well with it.
