mantle changes the ipc race
wouldnt suprise me if Intel wont be needed then.

Mantle changes the way what goes load, so unless the mechanics are off the gpu will be loaded max, so yea I am sure we will see some scenarios when one processor is the preference but amd optimized for 8core their way makes the ipc redundant in most cases.

can be totally off there we will find out soon anyhow

problem for dice is this is the last dice game in the BF series I bought.
its not battlefield anymore. EA ruined them.
so once Titanfall hits the street I am there.

Frame rates at 1080p though, I wouldn't think would be wildly different?

The gpu would have a much larger effect on fps for me than upgrading the platform you'd think, given the choice of where to spend the money.

yes.
some have changed their system from Intel to amd and its like what I say, in actual gaming practice you be hardpressed to note difference.
a few fps here and there, well cards at high end differ to little unless you run benchmarks.

The problem is ive hyped this up way too much that i fear a lot of people are going to be disappointed.

Anyway

"Your OVERCLOCKERS order will be delivered today between 11:45-12:45"

Good news,

My girlfriend kindly pointed out that maybe this Ash, could be a woman perhaps? maybe it's Ashley?

If it was, you could...COULD explain that this delivery was meant to be here yesterday, and today you've had to take the day off work again when you should be saving kids/Babies/puppies/kittens/OMG i love twilight too...
Bit of luck you'll maybe get two presents today:D:p

A few FPS here and there is what an R9 290X gives over an R9 290.
And you'll already be losing that.
1080p isn't all that now a days, and an 290x and 290 aren't wildly different in end performance.

R9 290X over an R9 290? Pretty much.
In very extensive benchmarks ; Firestrike, the difference is a lot more, in gaming? Barely anything, and you'd have lost that with the FX83 anyway, so it's entirely pointless getting an R9 290X over an R9 290 with his set up.

But it'd be interesting to see, I'm pretty confident I'd out bench him with games (Say 20 from the last year)

The difference between the CPU's depends entirely on GPU set up, resolution and games.
