Recently got hold of a 4k res screen and im getting lots of instabilities on the most recent drivers on my titan sli.

the none 4k res screen and everything is lovely stable.

4k is amazing btw :)

i suppose it depends on what monitor you have, i do believe that some of the 4k monitors are setup like 2 monitors side by side , so you will need to do nvidia surround on it to get it working properly, so it depends on which monitor you have.

I believe HardOCP said something similar during their video card review of 290X crossfire vs Titan SLI @ Ultra HD - 4k. 4K just works and performs all round better on AMD atm. Not much help for you im afraid. But if you sign up to the HardOCP forums and post about it in the Nvidia section one of the editors might respond and be able to help. :)

got the asus 4k screen.

I have a really good comp

4770k@ 4.5ghz
16 gb ram
2 x ssd raid
2 x titan

Performance is not what I would expect (yes I know its 4k!) but others are getting better results than I am plus the instabilities are obviously quite vexing.

Lies.

Both the Radeon R9 290X and the GeForce GTX 780 had no issues being setup and run at 4K Ultra HD resolutions on our Windows 7 64-bit test system. Everything just worked right after the latest driver was installed and we were up and running at the monitors native resolution of 3840×2160.

Both Nvidia and AMD had absolutely no troubles setting up the 4K monitor. As long as you have a graphics card that supports 4K, has a DisplayPort 1.2 MST port and is using the latest drivers then we can’t forsee you having any issues.

As for setting up the 4K display, it seems that setting it up is a bit better now on the GTX 780 Ti. When we launched each game, we did not have any trouble setting the resolutions this time. In the past, we have had some issues, but this time it worked flawlessly.

Theres nothing wrong with 4k on either AMD or Nvidia, as for performance, theres nothing to split the 290x or 780ti with, except price, noise and heat. But then they are both enthusiasts cards so I don't think any of those considerations matter too much in the grand scheme of things.

What connection are you using? hdmi or display port?

The OP is noticing a lack in frames, or at least less than he was expecting - something which is obviously apparent no matter what GPU you use at 4K.

Obviously the problem lies else where ;)

If you have the money at hand then fine but 4k is a marketing gimmick designed to fill the gap until 8k is available. 8k is being broadcast and tested right now in Japan ;)

I will get an 8k then when take comes out :p

Think im going to do a fresh install of 8.1 though I need to have snoop around on drivers as the current latest officials are obviously cack on 4k.

Im not seeing the performance levels I am expecting, its playable but gets jittery everynow and then......though its the crashes out that are concerning me.......system was rock steady on 27" screen.

I had my Asus 4k monitor running on three Titan SCs in SLI, the problems I encountered were due to the Titans not able to boot this monitor @60Hz. Booting @ 30Hz was fine except for the very noticeable mouse input lag. If booted @ 30Hz and then switched to 60Hz the Nvidia drivers do auto detect but certain games had graphical glitches which varied from game to game. EVGA are working on a bios revision for these cards but at the moment if applied they will down clock SC cards to standard. Although this set up could run Crysis 3 at max settings in 4K @ 60Hz at 60fps my solution was to change to R9-290X cards. Remember as well that some games are optimised in favour of specific hardware setups, TressFX in tombraider is one example which Nvidia cards can't run but AMD cards can. Let ne know if I can be of any help as the information would be from actual experience with this hardware and not what has just been read off the internet.
