**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

So who's decided to go all digital with the Xbox One?

I have some games pre-ordered but I'm tempted to cancel and download them instead. Or I might just buy one disc so I have something to play on release day while the others download :)

With a 500GB HDD is that even possible?

Would personally prefer to go all digital (even though i do tend to trade games in) but my 1.5mb connection wouldn't enjoy it so much.

All digital /shudder

I would not mind one or two titles that's digital like BF which you would get proper use out of.

Can you image buying the new batman on digital? It was very enjoyable but a complete mess. Completed it and got most of my money back

Just realised my other half is working late so won't be able to collect xbox from the post office next friday. Game have processed the order so I can't change the address :(. No xbox till Saturday morning then.

absolutely im going all dgital, but then again I have 80mb fibre internet

Haven't used optical discs in years

I'm on 120MB, but the cost of digital console games is still prohibitive.

Until they come down to a reasonable price which outweighs my requirement to sell them after completion, á la the PC and the mega deals you can get for new digital releases, I'm still going to predominantly be disc based.

I don't want to go through loads of pages to find if its been asked, the thing that annoyed me with the current gen was the lack of AA and AF, is there any info to what will be running on these consoles.

yeah i don't think it's much different here. Check out the BF4 first 15 minutes ps4 vs the pc..........ps4 powerlines shimmering and breaking up and pc not perfect but at least solid.

My sensible head is ruling again and I think I should cancel my pre-order and just wait it out until the new year to let things settle and get a truer reflection of how the consoles are.

Very few games this generation have been native 1080P but as both consoles came out when 720P was just taking off that's understandable.

Multiplatform games are likely to run 720P on Xbox One, developers will probably program games at 720P for Xbox One and then use the PS4's extra GPU power to get an almost free resolution increase.

PC's are highly inefficient compared to consoles, developers can't communicate directly with the hardware that's why AMD Mantle is being promoted, plus the highest settings on PC (Ultra etc) aren't really optimized and are just there to offer a little bit more visual difference even if the performance impact is huge.

I know that most games weren't 1080p but some were so the consoles can do it. It wasn't needed at the beginning and the games improved massively from day 1 to now and the same will happen with these consoles too. I suspect you are correct though about multiplats always being lower res on Xbox One than the PS4.

I know PC's are completely different to that of consoles, my point was that people go on about the "consoles should be able to do 1080p" but that on its own is a useless statement. Even with the additional information of framerate it is still useless. The only time the argument can be made is when you know what graphical settings the game is running at.

I agree, I don't often sell games anyway but unless the digital copies are significantly cheaper it just is not worth it. Even less so when, for the time being at least, we're all stuck with a 500Gb HDD.

Launch day games are going to be bumped up in price in Game so might as well get digital. £60 in game £60 online.

If you're paying £60 for a game you need your head examining.

Pretty much everywhere online is £40-£50, and I'd imagine supermarkets will be below RRP as well.

From what I've seen most disc bases games are gonna be around £40-£50 at launch where as I'm guessing the digital games will be between £50-£55 going off of the prices on the MS store.

This is one of the reasons I'm going digital. I don't mind paying that extra few quid to get the benefits of instant switching and the like

What date is TV integration in the UK expected?

No one has a clue - realistically to do freeview properly they would need to release their own tuner to plug into the extra hdmi port.

Apart from that it is all about working with Sky, Virgin and BT to get it working with their boxes.

Now I'm no XBox one expert, I've only decided recently I am getting one, but there's talk of digital games allowing for instant switching whilst BR versions don't.

Now if, as we know, you HAVE to install the game fully on the HDD isn't that the same as a digital version? If so why wouldn't instant switching work?
