*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

Well erm moving on and back to discussing the PS4. So far then we've learnt that launch games are average with resogun being the better reviewed, killzone is more of the same but just vastly improved graphics, but the hardware has got a missing foot, but its a design choice, reports of a few bricked early release consoles, that are yet to be confirmed as actually bricked and MP3, CD, DLNA and 3D blu ray is to be introduced via firmware updates.

Well, if this is the worse the PS4 has to offer, then looking back to the PS3 which lets face it was a bit of a fiasco on launch, the PS3 controller at launch didn't even have force feedback, and the PS3 OS was to be fair a bit lacking, not to say that the games didn't even have trophy support, then the Ps4 is looking fairly good already i'd say.

Hardly a disastrous start for the PS4, ok granted its been reported the OS needs some tweaks and features adding, but overall, not too bad if you ask me.

And with FIFA 14, BF4, NFS rivals, killzone, Resogun, Contrast etc etc, there are some quality games to play now, at launch.

i just feel rose tinted glasses get in the way sometimes. The 360 and PS2 etc launched such a long time ago now, i honestly don't think the PS4 launch is all that bad if you ask me..

i'm still looking forward to getting mine at the end of the month.
 
Problem is that the Internet is now so prevalent with Twitter and such stuff that the slightest murmur of discontent becomes a tsunami of rage. This'll all be forgotten in a year when the good stuff comes. Look how much the PS3 changed between firmware 1 and what we have now. Who'd've thunk it?

this is what I tried to tell a work colleague today, he is such a major xbox fanboy, and does all he can to find rubbish about Sony PS3 and PS4.

oh look, Call of Duty Ghosts has frame rate issues.. regardless of the fact the PC version suffers the same, but oh no. PS4 is rubbish. He'll email me tomorrow stating how rubbish the Ps4 is now its failing as he'll read it on reddit.

But the PS3 was a disaster at launch, yet Sony pulled that console into a reasonable seller, matching the 360 despite being launched a year later and added a ton of stuff, and provided some good stuff with PS+ etc..
 
I'd probably hold fire on buying a drive and let other people be the guinea pigs to find out whether there is much of a performance benefit and to see if there are any issues with certain drives.
 
Cheers guys I'm after a fast hard drive with a minimum of 1,000GB and 3 to 5 years warranty. I'll probably wait as said and see what everyone else is doing before taking the plunge. I really don't want to spend any more than £200 if I can help it.
 
Wow this thread certainly kicked on. Tomorrow is going to be amazing. Oh, the meltdowns! Then we get to do it all again next Friday and then again the Friday after that!
 
IGN have an article up confirming they too have had a faulty PS4 albeit after the update was installed.

I imagine someone's already posted this but not got time to search the thread.
 
I've been watching a few streams on Twitch and it looks like the built in streaming works really well.
 
cancelled my amazon uk pre order yesterday! unfortunately cant afford to pay for the console this month! (too many outgoings!) gutting.. some lucky SOB will be getting my console allocated to them. :p hoping it was one of you guys maybe!

I cannot wait another two weeks, our friends across the pond are so lucky.
 
also cancelled my preorder, supposed to be getting it on friday, gonna wait till after xmas when some more games are out for it.
 
Anyone notice the little messages in the ui demos. Like download complete. BF ready to install. BF installed without them having to click anything :)

I was watching a stream this morning of BF4 and the guy was playing it for the first time when a message appearded saying that the install had complete. Seems like the play while installing bit works quite well and is handy considering the size of the installs.
