Got a lot of love for the pooch today... love him to bits, and the lass giving him a good chin stroke...

Good old lad, 11 years... I hope he lives forever.

First post in here of my dog, Brock, who is a 10 year old Hungarian Vizsla. Probably the most intelligent dog that I've ever had the honour to be the owner of after having King Charles Spaniels and a Golden Retriever who bless him lived to 23 years old! :o

Excuse the pictures, am still getting used to my new D3200...

A couple of months back, my parents lost their dog :(

It was pretty horrific - he was out walking with my stepdad in some fields near where they live, along with their other dog Meg, they walked there all the time and had never had any problems. Anyway, Freddie obviously caught sight of something he wanted to chase. He set off, wouldn't come back to my stepad (he had always been fantastic off the lead and very obedient), ran clear across two fields and jumped over the wall (hadn't been known to jump since he was a pup, he had to be lifted into the back of the car to go on journeys and had arthritis in his knees) and straight into the road, where he was hit by a lorry travelling along the road. The lorry driver never stopped. My stepdad had to deal with the aftermath, which really hit him hard.

They have had the one dog for about 3 months now but really missed having two; also I think the shock of losing him so suddenly and tragically made it even sadder for them. They started looking for another dog a few weeks back, and on Friday night brought home this little beauty:

This is Rufus. He is a 14 week old scruffy lurcher puppy. Went to meet him last night - he has the most enormous feet. We think he is going to be HUGE! He is clearly teething, chewing everything in sight - but so cute!

Those feet are pretty insane man.

My Grandfather lost his Springer Spaniel who he adored after a good 10 years together. We got him a new Schnauzer pup just a few weeks after he lost Rosie despite him swearing blind he couldn't deal with another dog.

Here we are nearly a year later and he says that having another dog to spend time with and love made the loss much easier to deal with. No dog is a replacement but it does get easier. Here is a photo of Ted when he was at the stage Rufus is now :P

My two dogs, Pablo (black/white) and Vera (brown/white). We've had them almost two years now.

They like to sleep in awkward positions (usually with one laying over the other). Bought two new beds (bigger too) since that picture was taken but they still share one so they now have one for upstairs and one for downstairs :).

Haha. Yes, I can see this happening! Mum was supposed to be having new carpets fitted on Friday - but has asked them to hold off for a couple of weeks, may have been a wise decision as there have been a few accidents since Friday :D

EDIT: A few more my sister just sent me :D

In that last one I think he looks like an old man! :D

Here are my wife's two little dogs;

Oreo (Havanese) on the left is 10 months old and Marshmallow (Bolognese) on the right is 12 months old. They are both brilliant fun and very affectionate.

We think our 12 year old Afghan suffered a mini stroke yesterday, spent a good part of the day unable to stand on his left side and kept on falling down. He has improved and can stand and walk but he limps pretty bad. He still seems happy and wants his walk, albeit at a slower pace. He has improved but I fear he's not long left.
