Hi Guys, going to be ordering the parts for my new rig on Monday morning and wondered if you anyone could help me with finalising the build.

Things I want:
-Intel 4930k hex core
-AMD 7990 6Gb
-32Gb RAM with room to add another 32Gb in the future

I already have an H100 for cooling the CPU, am i right in thinking i can take advantage of quad channel memory?

I'm liking the look of the Corsair 500r case, providing everything is going to fit (I think it will).

Budget is basically as cheap as possible while fulfilling the above requirements.

Many Thanks.

What`s your overall budget and have you any components you can reuse?
Do you need an OS?
And Yes, you can use quad channel, as that is what the chip is optimised for.

I think it's a waste spenidng nearly £1500 on these components (which you DO WANT!) and not treating them properly, in my eyes.. I would personally do something like this, as id:

  • Want to see my components
  • Want to overclock them to the max
  • Have them run quietly

That is fair enough, im just telling it the way I see it though..

The 7990 gets hot and loud and has many intamces of coil whine, so the only way id have it is watercooled.

I am 100% with you but watercooling can seem daunting... especially when you just wanna game and not bench haha

But as mentioned, I like your thinking bruv

Welll, I suppose the OP can always sell his H100. :D

Some very nice specs there :) and I agree maybe I went around this the wrong way.

In all honesty, noise and efficiency aren't super high on my list and a I agree the 7990 is a bit of a beast to tame if I'm looking for a simple build, it's power to pound ratio is just too hard to deny!

Put simply, I would like to make use of the h100 that I already have, custom water is best saved for when I'm a bit more confident with my builds.

My main reqs are that I want a strong processor that isn't a 4770k and isn't almost pushing £1k and is a good overclocker, which I think the 4930k fulfills nicely.

Next up, 32gb of quad channel ram, with a motherboard that can later take another 4x8gb in the future.

Graphics card, as I mentioned, I'm finding it hard to forget about the 7990 although I'm aware of its noise, power and heat issues. I'm the 780 ti to be another contender but it's over £100 more. Also the 7990 can be found new for the equivelant of just over £300 new at the moment which makes it all the more attractive.

Appreciate all the input so far
