Miffed at Youtube.

Just gone to youtube and wondered what the hell was going on as it was telling me to set subs up even though over 100 and all my videos had gone.

Turns out rather then using my youtube name it'd defaulted to the email address associated with that account and set a brand new youtube up. Sorted it now but isn't half annoying logging in and everything changing yet again.

Personally I've not been a fan of the YouTube interface for quite sometime (it was fine but could have been better), then I discovered this little puppy which gives you black background toggle, auto HD, mouse wheel volume, auto size correction... it's the only reason i still use Firefox.

Having to select HD for every video has been my main bugbear with youtube for lord knows how long, this automating is a life saver!

Oh, and boo to the new comments system.

Edit: It's not really a free service, is it? The amount of ad revenue Google must cream from it's (4 billion?) views per day must be a nice incentiviser.

What automating? I still have to select HD from that cog-wheel, which then does nothing but spin for 90% of the video and then, in the last moments, it decides to up the resolution.

Recommend the AutoHD and Preloader (i'm sure Youtube only used to preload the next 3 mins or so, now it loads the whole video :) )
 
Tip I read the other day.

VLC > Media > Open Network Stream. Paste in the URL of the video your watching.

Solves a few issues I have with the YouTube browser player like rewinding back means I don't have to rebuffer again.

YouTube down for me currently, anyone else?

Clearly you are following the wrong kind of people if you think it barren.

I personally use G+ on a daily basis and I find it far superior to Twitter for my interests. I'm not sure what many people are expecting it to be, it's not going to replace Facebook but just because it won't doesn't mean its a failure and nobody uses it.

Far too many misconceptions about it from people that mostly might have tried it 18 months ago or longer or are just jumping on the band wagon because its fun or something.

No, the point is I have no intention of following anyone, I don't care about others, as much as I need G+ as well as a FB account, I don't bother with twitter and I don't HAVE to bother with FB...if I don't want to, I'm not forced into using it them as they are not interlinked to the same degree to other sites, completely unrelated websites.
It is a barren wastland, its not happening, its not needed, nor now is it wanted.
It has done NOTHING..UTTERLY NOTHING to resolve or clean up the comments section on Youtube, in fact they are ten-fold worse now.
Google lost the plot a while a go now, glad im not "tied" to their services as this is only going to be the start of things to come now.
 
I deleted my G+ account a while back and Youtube insisted I used it and it just got in the way.

Now, they INSIST I create a G+ account again. Erm, NO.

I have a Google account, I have a Youtube account, I will not create a G+ account.

I do not use Google+ and I do not have a Facebook account either.

I get notifications saying someone replied to me yet they were replying to a totally different person...... :rolleyes:

It's not even my name at the start of their comment lol
