Is it possible to use 3x7990's.

I suppose a hex core intel and mantle will be needed to get this working properly.

BF4 200 fps mins?
 
In all seriousness, only one crossfire connector is available on a 7990, so only two can be used physically. You could use three but one for be for show... ;)
 
Crossfire driver is limited to 4 GPU's anyway

Your other option would be fine as it is only 4 GPU's.
 
you can use 4-8 290/290x's, just need to find a mobo for it. though if there is any truth to their 2x290 card, then potentially you might actually be able to jam 4 on a current motherboard which would be.... insane. For non gaming purposes it would seem to make more sense for some compute data centre computer with a custom mobo. Gaming with 4x dual 290x's would be, interesting. Put a 1500w psu for cpu + 2, and another 1000-1200W for the other two.

Old style xfire is limited to 4 gpu's.

his questions (6 way Xfire, Xfiring 7950 and 7990) could be easily answered by spending about 3 seconds googling, or even searching the forum.

I'm not saying people can't ask questions, but these type of questions have been answered million times already and it just shows how lazy OP is.

Yeah but it's Lucid, use 4x7990's, get the performance of half of one 7770 :p

That's actually serious, Lucid would I could only assume increase cpu overhead which with 2x7990 is already an issue, with 3x7990... ouch. Frankly without Mantle I think it would be pointless, the cpu overhead reduction might mean a truly top CPU can push them hard enough but.
