Honda marries vtec with forced induction - finally!

Awful. Honda died a long time ago, they might as well put Ford or Renault badges on their cars, especially the Swindon made nonsense.

Mr Honda will be turning in his grave at what his company has become.

You really think so? I'm intrigued - please explain why?

I'll stick with an F20 thanks. Can't beat revs for driving experience and throttle response. Anyone can just dump a turbo on an engine like old school jap turbos did in the past but Honda took the more pure approach.

Honda VTECs had an identity :(

Hell I remember a certain 1.6 VTEC turbo revving to past 8k with 230hp built in a shed. That would be more like what I would expect from Honda.

I'm no VTEC fanboy either. I've driven many cars and, for me, nothing else feels like when you grab VTEC by the scruff of its neck.

I think the main problem is the competition are pushing the bhp numbers up. It was just a matter of time before N/A became non viable. I would love to see a 300bhp 8-9k 4 banger but I would guess the costs would be huge and the emissions/fuel economy dire (Unless they used 3 stage VTEC again). Cars like the EK9/DC2/S2000 will never happen again unfortunately.

It's emissions and consumption as well that necessitate the switch to forced induction, rather than just pursuing outright power.

BS.

It's Honda trying to harness the rotational force of 'Mr Honda' rolling in his grave. Some believe they've bolted a generator to his casket which powers their entire factory and the surrounding area. Making them 100% carbon neutral.

Times change and things move on. I'm sure this engine will have a huge potential for tuning. TDi North will work their magic!

Now what we want is a new S2000 that's just as bonkers as the original. A shame it wont happen.

Was gonna mention something about the S2000, but you beat me to it :(

If they do make a new S2000, I bet its gonna be butt ugly, like most of the new stuff they've been making lately, what they should do is bring the original S2000 back with the 2L T, we'll lose the 9k screamer we all know and love, but might see 300hp+.
