Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag Benched

it is demanding, and at the same time the optimisation doesnt look the greatest but there is a day one patch...just gotta wait till Friday me thinks. I'm getting mainly 60fps 90% of the time at 2xmsaa and all other settings at the highest and HBAO on high. But, it does all of a sudden drop into the 40's for no apparent reason. Took some screenies here with overlays http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17732710&page=630

Stunning looking game, wish they had an ingame benchmark test though

for $hits and giggles, select 8xEQAA(16xAA) and watch the frames tank lmao.

What on earth is it doing to warrant the poor performance in those benchmarks?!

It doesn't even look that great. The Witcher 2 looks better and that is 2 and half years old...

if this is "next gen" i am sorely dissapointed.

Sounds like they've not changed it much since the AC3 engine which only uses 2 CPU cores.

AC3 being the game that made me overclock my Haswell CPU from 3.5 to 4.5 because the performance in Boston was so CPU bound it was stupid. Needs all the Ghz you can give it on the 2 cores and waste's however many extra cores you have sitting idle.

I don't think this is truly a next gen title as it's had to work on the last gen consoles:

Clearly not. There are far prettier games that can extract much better performance out of current hardware.

The engine is starting to look dated now.

Failsoft = Farcry 3/Assassins Creed. Case closed.

If they're still using the old engine despite claiming it was rewritten for multithreading then it's a bit of a joke.

After the Ghost Recon and then FC2 and 3 I now refuse to buy from Ubisoft

3 games I have wasted my money and that had issue that was never patched.

Yeah i don't buy their games either. I only got farcry 3 because it came free with my 7970.

Me too. Probably one of only three games that I have completed in 5+ years.

Has anyone answered the question about "Uber", "Best" and "Real" for the 290s?

Uber = Uber mode, on the 290x only as far as i know

Best = Best run most likely from cold so slightly higher scores.

Real = Once the card has warmed up and power play is kicking in now and then.
