Need For Speed : Rivals

that's all fine and dandy, but why should you accept 3rd rate ports that restrict the experience and throttle performance (no pun intended) ?

They aren't ports, it's called lazy development rather than porting.

Need for Speed: Rivals doesn't seem to work with Steering wheels either...

the last game that linked physics to the fps must have been over a decade ago?

I still remember some c&c type game where the AI speed ran faster on faster cpu's :D
so if you overclocked or had a fast pc you had an impossible AI to beat in missions :O

It was well known in Rfactor circles that if your fps fell below 50, you would be at a laptime disadvantage. ;)

The video TB uploaded on this makes no sense to me, he doesn't even mention the performance of the game when running at its default 30fps, instead he just complains that the game breaks when he uses a DIY method to unlock the fps to 60, and then tells people not to buy it....

The game runs silky smooth on the PS4 and its at 30fps, you really couldn't tell the difference, and i suspect its the same for PC too.

What reviews?

If the game is playable at 30fps and is smooth like it is on PS4 and XBONE, then i don't see the issue. The message i am getting from TB is that because the game is not running at 60fps, the game is totally unplayable, and people should not buy it because of this. Which is a load of ****

silky smooth and 30 fps do not exist together in racing games or fps, maybe in isometric rpgs , stratergy games etc sure
If you can not tell the difference between 30fps and 60fps in a racing game then you are doing it wrong.

the difference in feel between 30fps and 60fps in racing games is massive , at 30fps you will be nowhere near as fast and precise as you will be at 60fps

I'm sure some people can enjoy the game at 30fps but most pc users will have rigs capable of double that and they didn't pay a premium for that performance for it to be handicapped for no reason

I cant say i have tested any racing games for comparing 30fps vs 60fps, its not something iv ever thought about until now. :p

All i know is that the game runs just fine at 30fps, and its suppose to be a good NFS game.

guess some people never played a racing game at 60fps :P
you guys should try it and then lock the fps to 30 and see if you can get anywhere near your laptimes without the extra precision and reaction times.

although you guys could be playing with an external camera angle.

guess this game has no interior view anyway?

It does have bonnet mounted cam, but its pretty useless as you need to see where the other cars are that you have to smash into, so you are forced to play with external cams at least 50% of the time. Soo glad I didn't buy this game, 30fps on a console maybe ok, but on a pc, thats full retard.

I wish I couldn't tell the difference between 30fps and 60fps but alas I can. To me, the difference is night and day. Thanks for the heads up - I won't be buying the game unless there's a work-around.

To be perfectly honest there is far too much going on to notice the 30 fps lock. I had already bought it before it was reported. Origin Mexican store for £20 :) Unlocked via VPN tonight.. :)

The game is fantastic, always chasing or running if you want to. Feels great when you are in a hot pursuit with 4 or 5 other cop cars against 2 or more racers. Lots of teamwork going on as well, which was unusual..

A couple of gripes though.

Stupid EA with their lets do peer to peer hosting, a few host migrations which takes 20 20 seconds to complete.. Spend some money on dedicated servers EA for crying out loud! Also, I cannot get the game to run full screen, have to run it in windowed mode. Just get a black screen in full.. Thinking it was because I have 120Hz monitor, so reduced the refresh rate, still the same..

Going to try drivers etc to fix it..

All in all, the game is well worth the £20 I paid for it, not too sure about £40

I have played it and yeah for me the 30 fps is very noticeable so much so that I won't play it, it's just not as smooth and responsive compared to the games I play at 60 fps and above.

It's 2013! why the hell are people still playing at 30 fps for god sake.

This game looks crap too, made the mistake of buying the last NFS, won't be doing that again.

NFS has become as formulated as COD & Battlefield, same ****, new skins every time.

Game isn't too bad once you get past the fps issue.

Mechanics and physics seem a little better than Most wanted, Imo the cars actually feel a bit more driveable.

Rainagul, sort your sig out please It's over the 20Kb limit.
