*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

Saw one in local GAME store today, behind a fairly thick perspex shell, but with usable controllers. Quite liked the slightly larger size of the DualShock 4. Console was running Fifa, which I thought looked pretty decent......

Happened to see one of the Blue DS4 controllers yesterday, my god they are GORGEOUS. Looking at them online really doesn't do them justice, I thought it looked okay online wasn't that fussed but seeing them in person is a different story entirely. I can't comment on the red ones but I'm sure they're similar, I may have to pick one of these up at launch next week along with my bundle.

Well i get my new 51" tv in the morning :) then a week later the ps4 comes, not sat on the sofa and played a console since the ps2.

Lucky bleeder. I ordered a 55" W905 last week, which they failed to deliver on Saturday as promised, so I rang up and rage cancelled. Kind of regretting it now. :(

I was going to buy one of the blue controllers as they looked really nice, but when I changed to the Gamer bundle I realised I would probably never need 3 controllers, so cancelled it. Might pick one up next year if they drop down to a more respectable price.

Every day there is bickering in either this thread, or the Xbone one. Can everyone who wants to wind each other up over some bullcrap, please do it in PM's or something so we all don't have to read it.

Contribute something then instead of adding to it ?

Shopto orders will be sent on the 28th NOT earlier.

I have, a bunch of times. But everything gets lost in between all the arguments.

Anyway - just posted a new thread with a useful google docs spreadsheet from US users for PS4 headsets. Confirms what works out of the box and what you have to do for other models. Could be worth a look for all those looking at changing headsets, or finding out if your current one is transferable.

I am unfortunately in the same situation as you, I too have the gamer bundle on pre-order. A lot of my friends don't though so I may try and sell my extra DS4 to one of them and pick the blue version then. It would match what I have this generation for PS3, I had a black one and a limited edition inFamous blue one which was really nice. I'm going to have to stop saying 'this generation' after midnight tonight, old habits =)

You're conveniently missing my post I see ;)

I haven't, i'm conveniently busy trying to work and just dipping into the thread. I will read up. lol

Still won't change my mind though. The whole thing costs £80 more for the sake of a camera.

EDIT: You are quite right. It's all about perceived value to the user.

But how many people go "Oh wow, I cannot wait to play games with Kinect". "I really wish I could control my system with my voice"

There aren't many. People can see the potential, but why should they pay a premium for it?

Microsoft should be doing more to encourage their vision. Make it free, get in people's homes and then make their money back on the software.

I've watched video streams of people trying to do basic functions, failing twice, and then going back to the controller.

Instinctively, they then proceeded to use the pad unless they made a conscious effort to use Kinect.

£80 premium? No thanks.

When that system is £300-£350 I will snap one up. There is so much to like about it.

I have gone for the Samsung PS51F5500, i really wanted the panny GT60 for my PS4 but couldn't really justify the extra £500 notes :(

To be honest I could be a few menus deep and just click 'back' quicker to home and then to play something rather than attempting to speak to a camera and wait for it to understand and carry out the instruction.

I think both systems voice controls (and the camera in general but some people may have a use) are just a silly gimmick.

It's potentially the way to go, if it works solid. But this tech is still in it's infancy.

To me it's just another step towards everyone getting fatter. Lazy. Soon we will have a robot cat that controls the games while we just think about what we want to happen. lol

I got a 50" W656 about 2 weeks ago, the picture if fantastic.

I hate everything about voice commands so would never even consider using such a feature on any device but I'll try it out once just to see if it's the first voice command system ever to understand a deep, low pitch geordie accent - my hopes are not high as the tech doesn't exist so far. lol

Buttons all the way for me - forever.

It's one of those things where I don't see voice control over a button press as an 'advancement' in technology or convenience.

I only got the camera because it was free in the bundle so plan to sell it on for £30 or something.

That cam will be cheaper soon. I wouldn't mind one just for the picture-in-picture Twitch streaming. Sounds like a blast.
