Agreed, from what Ive seen it appears the main use of Kinect is because the XO UI is so poorly organised - they really should have made some more effort past Metro.

I cant say Ill be using the Sony ones either, but at least you dont have to feel you have to pay more to try it out before probably dismissing it (works through the headset). Its surprisingly accurate from what Ive read (Sony are very behind on voice control compared to other tech companies) just has a much smaller scope of usage - i.e. go the same way as phone voice control, a gimmick.

When it comes to voice control as soon you feel you have to repeat yourself youll just be alienated by the experience and default back to using the pad - at least you know it will always work at first asking while voice might need more than one go - its that possible frustration that makes voice control not anywhere as useful as we are led to believe...

Well I finally had the chance to try a Ds4 controller. I have to say its terrible. :D

Only joking. Its a remarkable improvement over the DS3. It feels much nicer to use. I played Fifa using and it felt comfortable to use. My hands felt strained using Ds3. The thumbsticks are much better.
 
PS4 voice commands work through the headset? (I.e don't need the camera?)

I watched a silly BBC man use both systems and one thing I noted was when he said something like "call of duty", and it took him to the store where he could download it. Now there may be certain commands for doing exactly what you want, but say you had COD in the disk tray and you wanted to play it and you said that phrase, but it took you to the store. That would annoy me.

Sure, you might need to add "play" to the front, but what if it doesn't work so well :p

Edit: I suppose you would just say "play disk" or something rather than the title but still...can't see the point.
 
Yep voice commands work through the supplied headset - not sure if replacement ones need to connect to the controller or not to use voice commands - sure we will find out if it matters...

Ah well I've learnt something. As much as I'm not really bothered about voice commands, at least as you say it can be tried for no extra expense.
 
What shall I do with my PS3 and games?

Tempted to trade them in against the cost of some launch games and a controller (already have the PS4 on pre-order).

Correct - warranty not invalidated. Seemingly very easy replacement, much like PS3....cover comes off top of PS4 and there you go :)

No it's designed to be changed if needed. If you see yourself getting quite a few games I would swap the drive for a bigger one now rather than later as it will be a pain when the drive is full. Remember all the games need to be fully installed so 500GB will go pretty quick unless you uninstall when finished. It's pretty much the same as Pc.

Are there no other PS3 games you want to play? Moving to the next-gen doesn't mean you have to disregard the current.

You download the system software to a USB drive same as PS3. you can also transfer everything from the old drive to the new but it will take ages.
 
I don't have room in the network rack under the stairs for an additional console (well, I do, but I'm not messing around with the layout for a console I will hardly play).

I haven't played The Last of Us, but I'm mindful that I can get some launch games and a spare controller for the PS4 and it won't "cost" me anything. If I leave that a few months the value is going to go down, no?

I intend to sell both my black ds4's put of my bundle and replacing them with a red and blue. Sad I know, but I just wannit! :p
 
Woohoo UPS just turned up with my AC: Black Flag, Black Chest edition, just built the statue but no idea where I'm gonna put it, it's huge!

Now just the 7 day wait until I can actually put the game in my PS4! :D

Tempted to do the same for one of them to get a Blue one.
Keep getting put off by the effort but I really want a Blue one. :)

Don't need 2 controllers right away as only got one for future games the wife may wish to play. So think I'll just sell the 2nd one unopened immediately and just pick up a Blue one to use as my primary.

That's what I'm doing a quick power up to check it works then installing my 1TB drive. It will only take half hour or so with no game data to transfer. Saves doing it later when the drive is full and it takes hours.
