*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

Low light the S4 does not cope so well, but outdoors the S4 camera is excellent, it produces some brilliant pictures, much better than my IP5.

I have not paid much interest in other phones lately, but is the GS4 still the top phone? How does it compare to the LG G2?

It's a great phone, but it's a bit behind compared to the newest phones. The snapdragon 800 based phones have it beat in performance (Note3, LG G2, Nexus 5, etc), and some of the cameras are better, but other than that there's not much in it really.

I moved from the S4 to the N5 and it's an improvement in most aspects, but not one that will make or break either phone for you.

The Note 3 is a brilliant bit of kit, was going to purchase one but its far to big to be used as a phone, for me anyway. The size of the GS4 is just about manageable.

Is the Nexus 5 better than the S4? Its a sub £300 phone I know cost does not = the best but it has to play a part, they are very good value but surly they have to compromise on quality components?

I switched my S4 for an N5 and for general day to day use I actually think the N5 feels of higher quality.

The only thing that's genuinely noticeable is the speaker (the music one, not the earpiece), it's quiet compared with the S4. For some that's an issue, but I know most people don't spend a lot of time playing music through the phone's speakers, so shouldn't matter much really.

Other than that, I'd say it's at least equal in every other respect, and better in all round performance (combination of stock android, and the S800) and low-light camera shots.

Two biggest drawbacks for me is that the back is not removable so I cannot carry a spare battery or two if I go away and don't have access to a plug to charge the phone, and the Micro SD card. When your abroad or somewhere with little to no data connection, phones that use cloud and drive storage you are going to struggle to get your data.

But its a brilliant price :) Have had the S4 for 6 months now and I am feeling itchy for a new phone! Don't know which one :(

I take it updating the modem doesn't change the bootloader? Is the latest modem MK8 or MJ9? Currently on MJ8 and may flash to a newer modem.

For me the GS4 has got it beat on storage and screen quality.

The N5 wins on design, performance and low light shots.

Also nowadays I'd want a big battery in my phone - ala Note 3 and G2.

The screen's obviously down to preference, but yeah the storage is a definite advantage. If you can live with only 32GB though it's not too much of an issue. I do miss the extra memory card though!

I do think my next phone will have to be based around a larger battery, might have to look at the next note maybe.

4.4 coming in January for the S4, HTC have also said January (though this may slip to February). Sony......well they said it's coming - nothing has changed ;)

Guys, do all GS4's support LTE?

For example, on a certain website they have a Gs4 in Black and they have a red one which says "Samsung Galaxy S4 i9505 4G LTE/ Sim Free/ Factory Unlocked Smartphone (Red)"

The black one just says "Samsung Galaxy S4 16GB Sim Free Unlocked Mobile Phone (Black)"

Yes keyword here is i9505. That's the UK LTE version. It'll have a Snapdragon processor.

Yes - Krait is the name of the CPU core. So all good, it's a Snapdragon SoC.

Have you shopped there before? I've heard they don't have great service. Amazon is £20 more but has superb aftersales.

Regarding buying an ulocked device and updates. I get my updates direct from Samsung, and do not have to wait for delays in carrier pushing OTA updates?

Also regarding 4.4 info leak surely the GTI9505 model will also be covered?
