*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

The Amazon one will be unlocked and unbranded - no carrier delays/intervention.

The only other available model is i9500 - it has a Exynos processor and no 4G LTE. It's not a UK model.

i9506 - not a UK model.

I can easily restore just my sms's from GS2 to GS4 via KIES?

It's probably available in KIES, but nearly everybody avoids KIES like the plague, it's a terrible bit of software.

An app such as "SMS Backup and restore", or "titanium backup" can backup your texts from the old phone and restore them to the new one in seconds, no need for extra software on the computer at all.

One last noob question. The native Samsung weather widget, is a Samsung thing, not a carrier thing? As in if I buy a unlocked/unbranded handset it will come with weather widget? :p

Generally if it's a Samsung bit of software, it will be independent of carrier modifications. So yeah, it should be included with the phone (although there are much nicer alternatives available!).

Well I have been trawling the app store but havent found any... it's actually one of the reasons why Im thinking S4 over NX5. (As well as battery indicator, battery life, it's similar to my gs2)

You're choosing the phone just for the weather widget? I doubt you'd find it on the store, as it's probably just loaded onto Samsung phones. It's not really that great though, I've never actually seen anyone using it! Take a look at some other widgets from the store, there's much nicer ones available. Beautiful widgets is one that I've used, but there's literally hundreds available. Searching "weather widgets" brings up loads:

https://play.google.com/store/search?q=weather widget&hl=en_GB

As for battery life, there's not much difference between the phones, but if anything the Nexus has the upper hand there, from my use anyway. Battery indicator isn't something the Nexus has at stock though, but it only takes a few minutes to install one if it's important to you :).

 Yes, I know sad as it is, it seems to be a bugbear I cant get over.

This week I have been trying all the weather apps in the store, havent found anything remotely in the same ball park as the Samsung one.

If that's what's important to you, you don't need to justify it. People buy phones for loads of reasons, many stranger than that! :)

I'm using Omega v 15.

I was getting battery drain under Google services but I managed to fix that one.

Now I'm getting a bit of drain under 'device idle'.

Does anyone know why this could be ?

Edit: Also is it normal for the display to use so much battery? For example the displays been on for 30 mins, the phones been off full charge for about an hour and 9% battery has gone.
Cheers

Does this usage look about right?

5h 21mins on battery. 33% battery used. 1h 34mins of screen on time.

Yeah, just about I would say. You'll be at 4hr screen on time and maybe 12 hours of use with 20% left? Less screen time would mean you'd probably get 20 hours without to much trouble.

swapped from omega15 to foxhound 3.2 been using it for a few hours with stock kernel, it feels a bit more fluid then omega, battery is not getting hot and its charging faster.. im at 100% hopefully it lasts more then 16hours with light use.

Did you two do a full wipe before installing Omega 15?

I had bad battery life and reflashed doing the above and it's been very good.
