got my 280x today

I honestly dont know whats causing these random crashes, my 7850 didnt give me this stuff. Is there a way I can check my psu has enough power its frustrating

2013+-+1

the top portion of the pc is ice cold its the bottom im having trouble with, the back little fan is pulling in cold air cpu blowing out along with the big red fan
I don't know how to say this...but so many things are wrongly installed (direction wise) in this pic...

What case are you using btw?

If your DX error is "device hung" then it's the application that's the problem - lots of people have this error.

Are you experiencing any lock-ups, BSOD, random reboots?

maybe random reboot but my pc has done that in the past, no bsods i had slow downs but i think thats down to my hdd at times as i have one that slows the pc down when i access it and its sleeping. I get the odd delay on typing for a sec or 2 then thats it but nothing out of the ordinary since i got the card just the dx error, when i looked it up loads of people said overheating. The psu is getting upgraded no matter what anyway, I found a modular 600w corsair one that will just have to do because I was in work today so couldnt order one from oc and ill have to wait until tuesday for one

i did have a lock up until i closed bf4 when i got the dx error i think the screen froze for a bit, the fan slowed down then once i was able to close everything bf related it was fine

If your going to upgrade from the 500 you may aswell get a 750w. If your not freezing or rebooting it may not be the PSU but I suppose your changing it 'no matter' so update the thread if it fixes the issues.

wouldnt 750 be overkill for me. Its the only thing I can think of it being since the recomended is the 600w psu my 7850 never gave me any errors

i think it did while it was off i cant remember im best testing it with other games i think metro or crysis will put it into one

cooler master haf 912 plus, the psu was the other way around
If you have time, you should sort out your airflow and tidy your cables. Here's a picture pull directly from CoolerMaster for your case:

Also what your case should look like after tidying the cables:

Your cables should be tuck away neatly behind the the case not hanging around the main chamber area.

If it was me, I would remove the HDD cage in the middle section. And for the 4 HDDs, I'd put two of them into two non-removable HDD cage slots at the bottom, and then buy two sets of 3.5" to 5.25" mount brackets (shouldn't cost more than a few quids) and put the other two HDD into two 5.25" drive bays. That way, there would be far more air being intake into the case by the front 200mm fan.

Your case has very good cooling capability if you set it up correctly, so don't blow it by installing things wrongly (particularly fans and CPU cooler) toward the wrong direction and mess up the airflow. The CPU cooler can be blowing toward either the rear or the top (you need to turn your top 200mm fan from intake to exhaust), but definitely not blowing it downward toward the graphic card. If that 200mm Red Led fan was actually taken from the front, put it back to the front as intake, and make sure your CPU cooler is blowing toward the rear exhaust fan (like the large picture above).

Thanks so much for that mate I'll sort it out later on in work until 5.30 but I'll do it after that. I tried crysis 3 and it crashed. Well locked up I think it must be the PSU when I'm putting the PC under load

I think the cable that goes at the top left of my mobo isn't long enough but the rest should be sound I need to find the screws off the front fan

as I cant get order from oc on the weekend im gonna have to pay the premium and go the high street, gonna go for the cx600m to do for now, maybe 6-8 months down the line ill go with a £100+ psu

the recommended watt PSU for the 280x cards is 750 watts but im running mine off a 650 and its fine but the less your psu has to work/power the longer itll last so if the difference is minimal may as well get that. Least your gfx card technically works my sapphire toxics rubbish will have to do with out a gfx card while i RMA it which means no PC :(

You can actually route that cable between the graphic card and the motherboard if that cable is not long enough to go round the back, as in under the graphic card left of the PCI-E x16 slot.
