So you got a 20% bonus? Nice! I got a 13% bonus (some cash, some RSUs) and an 8% one-off pay rise, so I'm pretty happy myself. My previous company gave me a £500 cash bonus at Christmas of my first year and nothing else for the next five years.

I have to ask. Why do you feel the company must put on a Christmas Party for you and pay for it?

Why can't the people who want one just plan and pay for it?

Some of the people on here moaning about paying 20 pounds towards one is a little funny.

I think it's 'expected' because it's what some people are used to, and it forms part of the overall benefits package given with the job. For example, I would expect any new company that I join to offer things like medical insurance, because my current and previous company both offered it and I saw it as a worthwhile benefit. Some may consider a Christmas party a benefit that they have come to expect too.
 
It was 500 last year.. No idea what it's going to be this year if anything lol.. Not too bothered since we get
~2 weeks off during Christmas
 
Depends on the person.
I live with one and she works hard, the others in her team not so much (hence she gets the job offers and not them)
 
Only been at my current company for 4 months, but got 1000 Euros before tax + getting given an Xbox One + Christmas party. Love the company I work for! :D
 
Used to work for a large private IT company that gave out Xmas bonuses (quite good ones) each year. Then they floated and that stopped. That was late '90s and never worked for a company since that did.

Public sector, so the only thing I get is a £265 "recognition reward" and a 1% pay rise. It's better than a kick in the teeth I guess but this pay freeze is really starting to irk me. I would have been on at least a couple grand more than I am now if public sector wasn't frozen.
 
I'm allowed 10 days paid sick a year. If they're not taken then they get paid for at xmas instead. So no official xmas bonus as such but some extra money either way. Should also get some bonus for the month too.

It isn't much better in the private sector.

I worked in the same job for 8 years during which time I had one inflationary payrise, I only stuck it out because I loved the job and hoped that the hard work that me and my team put in would be rewarded.

Alas the Chief Exec didn't see it that way though and last year invoked yet another 2 year moratorium on pay even though our section of the business had turned in £124m profit.

That was me done at that point and I decided I need to look elsewhere and 5 weeks later I'd left.
 
We get a bonus every month as long as the company hits its break even figure which thankfully it does! Usually works out at between £150 and £400 a month but sometimes has been known to reach £8-900. This does mean we don't get a specific Xmas bonus but we do a fully bankrolled party, including drinks :D

Thats another thing I miss :( all my previous jobs have had ~2 weeks off at Christmas, this one I'm lucky to get 2 days (retail linked). Its suprising how relatively small things like that can have a bigger impact on your quality of life.
