Anyone having buyers remorse with next gen consoles?

Just feel like I'm getting a bad deal on my Xbox One purchase, after the initial excitement. Spent the best part of £620 on 3 games, extra pad and Gold membership, yet not feeling it was money well spent.

Not used the Kinect all day today, so pointless. Games are ok, nothing special. Resolution/distance making multiplayer shooters difficult to play. I've disconnected my Freeview box from the console as no TV guide and is messing with the remote signals. That and every time I want to watch TV I have to boot up the Xbox just making it laboured and pointlessly using 2 devices worth of electricity.
 
I'd feel the same if I'd bought an Xbox one.

Unless the exclusives are must haves for you, it seems to me like a poor deal.
 
Nope. I knew what I was buying and I'm happy with it.

Why connect it to control you TV? It's pointless outside the US.
 
Remorse? When you can sell it on and get a good wodge of cash if not all back...?

I'm personally not regretting my purchase.

Sell it to someone who'd appreciate it more. :)
 
I'm pleased with my XB1 (not sure why you say next gen consoles when the PS4 isn't out yet) but like my PS4 preorder I didn't expect to be blown away by any of the launch games or for the consoles to be markedly different from current gen.

I think people are expecting too much from what is effectively a mid-spec PC. Both consoles have clearly been rushed in some areas and developers have had to cut corners to hit the dates set by publishers. The great games won't be here for a while yet but if you genuinely don't think you'll get your money's worth over the lifetime of the console/s then just sell it now whilst you will get most of your cash back.

If you want something different with some truly great titles right now then maybe get a Wii U, that's what I expect to play most until Titanfall and Infamous come out.

The TV pass thru seems a complete waste of time at the moment...and people are paying for this!

I'm very confused by this product. I had a preorder from pretty much day one, and then cancelled (never told the missus either tbh). Im not bothered either way. I may get one, but to me it seems set for MS to work out which direction to take the console...and I'm not willing to be a guinea pig for them to experiment with ideas of "next-gen". I'm also very unconvinced with the cloud rendering non-lag sensitive graphics in the future too.

360 won the last gen, and ps4 is all very much set to win this one.
XBOne is just trying to do something that isnt really needed, and done by the built in functionality of the modern day TV.

I'm not a big console gamer away...but all this buzz made be uncover "The Last of Us" so I just bought it for 15quid. First game I've playing on my PS3 since REsistence and Uncharted...not played a game on it since Feb 2008!!!! It was bought just for blurry playback.

It's gonna be fun seeing how all this pans out....I'll buy once its all a bit clearer.

I bought all the last gen consoles...never again.

That's a good point, but begs the question would it be better off to hold off and pick up when there is a good library of games available and when the inevitable price drop comes.

I really need to spend some more time with the thing, but just initial reactions/feelings.

If you aren't feeling the love for it right now then I would sell it on. There will 100% be a Titanfall bundle in March so you could pick one up then if you like the look of that. Otherwise hold out for longer and you are unlikely to pay more for the console and you can get the decent launch games cheap.

I have bought both purely because I know I'd end up doing so anyway and had the money available now. We also have good consumer protection in NZ so there was no risk of being stuck with a dead console in 18 months' time with no come back.
 
Why did you buy it in the first place? Haven't you been telling everyone how rubbish it is in the run up to the launch?

I have no remorse at all but then I knew exactly what I was buying, the only regret is that the HDMI pass through has no passive mode, but I can always go back to using a splitter if it irritates me too much having both on.

Though I do like being able to walk in the room go "Xbox on", "Xbox watch TV" and have it all turn on. It's like living in a bad sci fi movie!

Pretty much what I was going to say.
The launch lineup for both consoles is a bit rubbish. The exclusives for both aren't exactly mind blowing and then you just have ports of current gen multi platform games.

no idea why you bought it, you spent weeks/months trashing everything about it, why are you surprised its not lived up to your expectation?

no buyers remorse for me, bought the console and 3 extra games, loving fifa and forza, kids love zoo tycoon, its exceeded my estimation, especially fifa,
 
I used to rush out and buy every console on the market and feel remorse. Those days are gone now, i just buy when the prices come down :)

Don't get me wrong, its cool to do some of the stuff, but I know the novelty will wear off soon. Whilst it works most of the times for me, I find it easier to just press the xbox home button to start the console. The first natural thing to do is pick up the pad anyway. Snap TV was a awesome feature but cant use for reasons mentioned above. All navigation stuff can be done with a simple mic, Kinect not needed.

I'm really starting to feel im not feeling it is partly due to being in the living room, everyone has their own comfy position and mine is lying on my side on bed. Don't like sitting up playing. That and the TV is so far away.

I loved the first few years of the 360, but then I didn't splash £620 on it.

The launch lines ups sucked for both consoles just give it time until some good games are released I'm waiting until next year to buy PS4.

Last time I had buyer remorse I waiting 5 hours for my plane ending up buying PSP sold it when I got back to England lol
