Right, so I've got a Raid 0 SSD setup that I made on my old X79 motherboard ( 2 x 240Gb SSD's). I forgot to un-raid the drives when I switched to 1150 Haswell and a non Raid motherboard..

The thing is when I installed everything, even though the mobo isn't Raid capable it does recognize the drives as one large Raid drive. However now I want to split the Raid drives and remove them separately, how can I do this on my current motherboard?

Any help appreciated.

press ctrl and I to access the raid console just before the gigabyte splash screen

(that's if you set to raid mode in the bios first)

then disable/delete the array (you'll also lose all the data on the drives)

also do a secure erase to restore the ssd's performance

Wazza300 - if the new motherboard doesn't support RAID it won't be able to enter the RAID setup will it?

Boomstick777 - if you can see the drives in Windows on the new motherboard I suspect some software RAID has been installed, there should then be a software RAID tool to look at the data and manage it. If you are able to see the old data then you can just copy it to another disk the reformat the SSD's one at a time.

Andi.

Yeah what happened was I moved my parts from X79 setup over to 1150 Haswell on a non raid ) mobo, I totally forgot about the Raid 0 setup, but once I installed all the latest Intel drivers it picked up the two drives as a single Raid 0 device, it doesn't give me any software options within the Intel progs to change it though.. Obviously no hardware options either via the bios lol.

I'm gonna try a laptop and if that fails my sons PC to see if I can get them to recognize separately..

if your sons pc supports raid, then just set to raid mode in bios attach ssd's,press ctrl and I and delete the array, then switch back to non raid in the bios so ide/ahci ect

Just done this :D

Annoying as hell, cables all over the place, but finally got it done lol. This is all in prep for switch to 1TB SSD. Both drives are separate now, put 1 240GB in our laptop and gonna sell the 120Gb SSD from that and 240GB SSD from my PC. Happy days, cheers guys.
