Very miexed region wise just now, no confirmed server region but most likely the one with the most members there, personally I don't mind which but right now there are a few more north Americans than EU, not much in it though.

To be honest, I usually prefer US based servers to Euro ones, mostly because of the language problems. No offence to those who speak hurdygurdy languages, but when I cannot understand a bloomin' word of it, it becomes a real pain in the rear.

However, I am suspecting that SC will end up with something very akin to the original guildwars, where you could bounce from US to EU instances with little difficulty, and if that is the case, that's all good.

As to USC, well, a good few of the members are UK/EU based, so I think we'll probably have a good presence there..

wouldn't you need 10 character slots on your account? sounds like they would be useless with npc's anyway if it's primarily a marine assault force

If you wanted to man it with 10 of your own characters then yes.

1 character slot and 9 hired NPC's can man it

well the wiki page makes it sound like a marine transport ship

it will be able to hold 3 single seater ships as well according to the wiki

http://starcitizen.wikia.com/wiki/Bengal_Class_Carrier
Crew (max) 755
surely that can't be right.

I know they are supposed to be massive but they said the instances would probably only be around 100 ships so I don't see anywhere near that number of players on one.

maybe the npc crew of one would be 755 people but I'm assuming a real player crew will just be a skeleton crew

The 775 crew is the in game fiction crew number. if one was captured in game the crew requirement would be considerably less but still more than any ships out there at the moment

Also if 10 people are on an idris for example in a battle they only count as 1 entity and not as 10.

In theory in a 50 vs 50 battle consisting all of Idris' you could have 1000 people on the ships. Only each ship counts towards the instance limit

10 slots if you want to use your own NPCs, yes. Incidentally, this costs you nothing (in-game).
You could also hire 9 NPCs, but you will need to pay them a salary.
Or you could hire 9 other players. These will require salary too, but ae probably open to negotiation.

Indeed, if you lose everything yourself, one way to get yourself started back up again is to work for someone else, which may include crewing their ship with/for them!

I wonder if you can get trapped on someone else's ship :D
I believe you can, to a certain extent.
Certainly, if you're manning the turret on someone else's ship and that ship gets blown up, you will die too.
As far as logging out while you're in combat, you might be replaced by an NPC, but I don't know where you would appear if you logged back in a few hours later. Likely the last planet you were docked upon.

Live stream is from 7pm GMT.

And some of my lot have more money than sense. Two have upgraded to Starfarers from Hornets.

I hope they reveal the Freelancer variants tomorrow in the stream, along with the next ships they're due to release.

They have already said they wont Gaz, but if you have a lancer you can buy the upgrade bolt on for a model and the LTI will grandfather over to it

I caved and slung another £30 to get a cutlass to join my superhornet. My ship history is varied already :D

Aurora CL to 300i to 325A to Freelancer and Cutlass to Freelancer, cutlass and Aurora LN to Superhornet and Cutlass

Looking forward to the stream......I cant believe how deep some of the backers pockets are.

To raise £3 Million over the weekend from the same bunch of people (new pledgers havent increased that much) is mind boggling.

Must have a lot of millionaire space sim fans!

Yup, cant believe how much money some pweople are investing in this - I suspect some of it are squads doing their own crowd funding of things like the fuel ship - that would be useful to have on a long foray.

All the more power to them personally, means a much richer universe for us. Ill limit my initial spending to £100, which is still double what ive spent on Elite or any other game at launch.

The end of LTI on the 26th is it? Does that mean for melting ships too - do we lose LTI if we do it after this date. Sure this has been asked and answered before but its hard to find stuff in this thread!

Indeed...have huge hopes for this game, really think it could be something special.

The thought of going out with your squad on a long expedition into deep space with a couple of Starfarers to refuel on your journey, haulers to pull back any loot and dogfighters for protection.....sounds amazing.

Sorry folks, I'm guessing this question has been asked/answered already but it's a big ol' thread!

What exclusives are available to people who back now and will therefore be unavailable to those who wait til the final game is released? In other words, what elements could you potentially miss out on by waiting?

veteran backer rewards were stopped ages ago?

you might miss out on one of the limited edition ships but I guess you wouldn't likely buy one anyway.

beta/alpha spots are limited though so if you want access to that obviously don't wait forever.

I think they added 50k more beta/alpha slots the other week with one of the funding goals

Everything people can buy now, can be purchased in game by playing it.

Some of the very early backers got LTI (Lifetime Insurance) on the ships that they have pledged for, which means that in essence they will never have to pay the annual in game charge for Insurance on their ships. (which will be fairly small anyway)

Aside of that by actually playing the game when it comes out, you should be able to aquire everything that orginal backers have got before the game came out.

The only really limited items are alpha/beta slots.

Nicely explained, thanks!

Theres a lot of cash rich people in their 30's tp 40's who remember his games and the genre and want to revive this area of gaming
