** BLACK FRIDAY CELEBRATION TODAY ONLY DEALS THIS WEEK! **

I have to agree..

usually Black Friday deals are much bigger than 10%...
I bought a Puma shoes with a 60% off deal... actually was 30% off any other online shop.

Not going to wake up for tomorrows deal, unless I'm awake already :p

How can you compare trainers to computer hardware? Your comparing a product which has 500% margin to computer products which are lucky to have more than 10% margin.

You won't see 60% of computer hardware, unless its stuff like cables, printer cartridges or if your lucky fans.

60% of current hardware does not exist, as the margin is not there to do it, that only happens on much older EOL items or when clearing aged/old stock.

No where in the UK has a 290 under £300 we believe which includes BF4 + 2 additional games, nowhere!

Well, my bank decided to freeze my account because I bought a £1.80 game on Steam last night (despite constantly buying from them over the years)

Guess it's a good way of stopping me from buying things in the sale 'just because they're cheap'

Ok I didn't want to say anything about computer hardware but on the same website they made a deal on a SSD that had 40% off Ocuk price.

I'm not saying 60%, 60% was from retail price but only 30% from major online retailers... but not 10% also...
Maybe something around 20 to 30% and I would call a Black friday deal.

Being the boss I can post links:-

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sapphire-51...8&qid=1385457928&sr=8-4&keywords=sapphire+290

We are £30 cheaper, plus FREE Express shipping to forum members and you get BF4 which is worth £40 and two additional games from AMD store easily worth £40 plus.

So with the games value and express value shipping you could say we are over £100 cheaper than them. As Amazon give you no games!

Now our deals looks very very attractive indeed. :)

I agree the 290 is a good deal, not denying that.
But like I said their Black friday deal on a SSD was 40% cheaper than OcUK price, how is that possible? was a 240gb ssd for £95.00 and here is around £140.00.

How can they do it?

Thats because those Puma shoes cost £3.50 to make. The 7990 ... tad more than that

Maybe selling it as a loss leader to generate traffic / advertising?

Ok, forget about the shoes was just an example...
Lets talk about the SSD...

they have another SSD deal coming today, but the SSD without the Black Friday deal is already 20% cheaper than here, lets see with the black friday deal later

It is quite simple, they either:-
1. Sell at a loss, to generate traffic, we do this sometimes with CPUs.
2. They use marketing money from the manufacturer to fund selling at a loss.
3. They use their own marketing money to fund selling at a loss.
4. They get given a crazy deal on one product, as long as they commit to buying lots of another product.

There are many ways are doing some strong deals.

For example the Samsung 970D and 971D, Amazon sell these at around £700.

We've being offering them at £499, over £200 cheaper, which is the 40% you speak off, we can do it because Samsung gave us a tonne of money to fund the crazy deals we have done and exclusively with us alone.

We smash amazon up as much as they smash us up at times, sometimes we are beating them by over 40% on certain deals and vice versa, there shall never be one Etailor who is always the cheapest on everything. Simply because they would very quickly go bust as money eventually runs out when selling at a loss.

Exactly!

That is why they don't do a 10% off deal as a Black Friday deal :)

Don't get me wrong Gibbo,
I know the deal on the R9 290 is one of the best, if not the best, out there.
But as a Black Friday deal I was expecting more.

Point is though, we do epic deals all the time. Like the Samsung 971/970 series, first to drop the 670 in price, then 680, then 7950 and then 7970's.

OcUK is always moving the market first and doing some epic deals as we ask for them from the manufacturer and make them happy, then a few days/weeks later some competitors get same/similar deal and copy us.

Another example was all the memory deals we were doing a couple of months ago on TODAY only where at times we were literally half the price of some competitors.

So for us searching and pushing for epic deals is an all year round event, if we happen to have something for around Black Friday, its simply good timing.

Aside from that, Amazon are the largest e-tailer on the planet by a massive margin. Their purchasing power or ability to squeeze suppliers is unrivalled.

That's why you'll also see extraordinary deals on electronics in the US, but almost never in other countries unless it's clearance. Massive market, massive sales, large retailers have gigantic purchasing power.

Re: the puma trainers, I should think £3.50 cost is being generous :P

In my (admittedly limited) experience 'Black Friday' deals are never on the latest stock (like this amazing 290 deal), they were always used on current range/older range stock ready for next years range (ie most retailers would be looking to shift stock so they could restock for 'January sales').

I agree.

Over the years OcUK became very competitive in prices and now with really good deals, but the best thing is the costumer support.

I doubt anyone would argue that the daily deals aren't usually good, it's just that when this week's promoted as extra special and to get in early to get them, but the deals are basically what you'd get any other week, it's a disappointment.
