Hello,
A friend of mine is thinking of getting a Samsung Tablet from the USA, for use in the UK, any problem with doing this, or is the price difference not worth it?

Thanks

Is he talking an LTE/3G tablet or just wifi? If just wifi then no problem, LTE/3G I couldn't see as much of an issue, although different signals used.

It will have US software on it, but that wont mean much and you should be able to grab the UK version and install it with Odin.

What sort of issues? because there shouldn't be anything I can think of that would cause a problem.

My Mum's Tab 7.0+ had terrible battery life after I flashed it with UK firmware (rather than the Canadian version). Reset it, reflashed it, tried a different version, same result every time. It'd wakelock and chew the battery in a day.

I can't see any reason why that could be caused by flashing a different country's firmware though, there must have been something else going on!?

Your guess is as good as mine. It was related to the wi-fi I think, probably something to do with the fact that the UK allows certain additional wi-fi channels that are banned in North America therefore the wi-fi radio was having problems. In any case, the only fix was to put North American firmware on it.
