*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

Downloaded and ready to go on a USb Stick just in case there are issues with downloading the update over the weekend. :)

Just got it cheers.

Remember it's the same as PS3 the update needs to be in a folder tree to work.

You need a folder called PS4 and then one in that called UPDATE you put the update file in.

With some of you guys changing/setting up a new profile, is there a risk that future Gaikai-based PS+ PS3 games might be affected?
Now, I know we have no idea just yet, but there is a possibility (to my mind) that when Sony get the backwards-compatibility thing up-and-running via Gaikai/whatever, one may be able to play games they already have?

Just watched a video on youtube with regards to updating via USB little more confident about the idea now, that said I'll try update it through the console first and if it's going to ages due to the masses I'll back it out and go via USB id like to think my 120mb connection can whip though 300mb pretty quick

How many of you guys used Netflix on the PS3 regularly , I have a netflix sub but I always used it on my panasonic bluray player as I found the ps3 to noisy for viewing.

I know the PS4 may not be completely silent but I do hope its better for viewing stuff like Netflix

Wouldnt you lose any PS+ games, game saves\trophies etc if you change?

I lost them all anyway, My phat PS3 died this year so I bought a slim and put in a 500gb hard drive I found lying around, the hard drive died after a few months - I got 80 percent thru Drake 3 :|

I've been using the inbuilt 12gb since lol.

I've got a new SSHD to go in mine - does that mean I'll have to 'initialise' the PS4 first - then install the update or will the initialisation software already have the new update?

bit like do I install windows from fresh or as an upgrade I guess ;)

We use Netflix all the time, infact it's on now my son is watching it :) I don't think of the noise, if you listen for it you can hear it but I'm just used to it so I don't think about it.

If you re-sub to PS+ they will all be in your account still.

You can just swap the drives before you turn it on as long as you have the USB stick with the update file ready. Although I would power it up first just to confirm it works.. :)

yeah good idea!

The 'initialise from new' PUP file is 900MB, whereas the update (1.51) is only 300MB. Hope it's included in the initialisation pup file.

FAT32 or NTFS for the mem stick?

how much are 500gb ssds then? My Dad asked me to let him know when they come down to a reasonable price :p

Is the update file named ps4 update.txt? Do I need to rename it to .Pup?
