Virgin Media Discussion Thread

Hey guys, I have just broadband, no TV or phone. I noticed that broadband (just broadband with no TV or phone) offers for new customers goes to 'up to 100Mb', yet when I log in to VM, it says I can double my 60Mb to 120Mb, for £7.50 more. So what are VM actually offering, 120Mb or 100Mb?

120mb in most, if not all areas now.

Guys,Whats the Ethernet port for on the back of the TIVO?

As you can get the internet on the TIVO anyway with just that standard copper cable going into it...just wondering?

So you can connect it to a your LAN. Only known reason for this I know of currently is to use the TIVO control app (ipad, iphone etc)which you must be on the same LAN as your phone to use.

Hi everyone, just received my price increase letter today and my package is going up by £5.75 a month which will mean that i'm paying a total of £83.84 after the increase for:=

TV - XL
BB - XXL (120Mb)
Phone - Talk evening and weekend
Tivo monthly fee
Paper billing

= £63.10 essential collection + £14.99 phone line rental (plus £5.75 increase)

Does this sound reasonable or should I call VM to try and haggle?

Just done a quick comparison and the price is roughly what someone would pay after the introductory bonus period. Still sounds expensive though.

The original tevo will connect to your PC and play content you have downloaded and can be controlled from a Web interface. Virgins firmware has removed that option though.

Well I got my letter to say my bill is going up by £3 something. My contract ends in Feb so i'll see if they're willing to do a deal.

I have mine connected to the superhub so I can use the Virgin TV Anywhere app as a remote control at home. I rarely use it though lol.

Details here

Its for remotely administering your TIVO recordings etc.

I plugged mine in and activated the service and I can now look over recordings etc from anywhere.virginmedia.com etc

They finally gave me the 120Mb/s upgrade that was supposed to be active in my area 2 months ago :).
Not too bothered about the increase in download, finally having more than 5Mb/s upload is nice though (12Mb/s).

Wow my SH1 seems to be degrading in terms of wireless range, it used to be alright and could get good signal through out the house, now the only rooms i can get a stable connection is the room its in (upstairs) and the bathroom downstairs lol, nothing has changed so not sure why its starting to get worse, i should get around to buying one of those asus routers but cant really afford it at the moment due to christmas coming around the corner - whats the likely hood of getting a SH2 swap out.

Guys, I currently have:

Talk 08 2 Talk Unlimited Free Voicemail TV Size: X L 1 Additional V Box V+ HD Monthly Fee TiVo Monthly Fee Monthly Fee - Extra Set Top Box Broadband XL (Up To 60mb) + line rental = £75.30

Does this seem expensive?

You might be getting interference from other devices or a nearby network. Try changing channel numbers, or even moving your SH about, as the poor internal antenna is quite sensitive to orientation.

Alright, ill give that a try Steam, channel is on auto i believe, and as far as moving it around, not much cable to move it too far, its in the back bedroom next to the outside wall.
