LIfe After Death

Interesting video WickFut.

Not sure how much of it I'm believing, what with it being a Soviet video ha!

Interesting bit was the dogs head reacting to things like sound and licking its nose. The rest just seems to be blowing up a paper bag etc.

More interested to know whether they are actual brain responses to sounds and an 'intelligence' responding to them.. or if its just a muscle memory thing.. which is more what It looks like there.

The story is true, the video has been re-staged.

the real dog is shown Here

You didn't answer my question. Can you give me an example of what would be sufficient proof?

Firstly, you need an experiment that detects the mind as it manifests itself without a functioning brain. Secondly, the results must have a five-sigma level of certainity. Finally, they need to be reproduced by several independent teams of scientists.

What would the experiment look like? Every interaction in the Universe leaves a trace so the experiment would be designed to find that trace.

Bit of a poor response when you're involved in a debate.

There are many examples of evidence which supports how logical train of thought hamper intelligence in some way. Such as Savant Syndrome, people who have this condition seem to posses incredible ways of intellect using their thought process in a totally different way to the average individual.

Google Orlando Serrell & Stephen Wiltshire, two excellent examples of what this potential could be locked up in every Human Being. We have locked ourselves in one way of thought which has stopped the full potential of the brain.

I'm not involved in a debate, I'm just curious when someone talks deeply about a complex subject on an internet forum, and I cannot be sure you know anything about brains or how they work at all, where do you get your information from? what research have you done? Is this a field you work in, or are you a layman?

A lot of morbid old sods in here.

The simple fact is have any of you been dead then come back to tell us what it's like? no? then nobody knows, there could be heaven, there could be some random all encompassing consciousness, there could be nothing. I'll come back and post once I've found out.

/thread.

Unfortunately I reckon once we die, we are gone.

The idea that we are reincarnated due to the fact that what we are decomposes and then become something else does make some sort of sense to me (no memories though if we come back as something else), but even that seems unlikely.

I'm not involved in a debate,
Well if you're not involved in a debate i must be speaking to an apparition on you're account. Of course you are involved in a debate :o

May i ask do you qualify every individual that you liase with via a forum? You cannot, you should use you're intellect and curiosity to find out more information on human behaviour & understanding. I am from an academic background, trying to offer you insight into psychology. What i am discussing is quite the basic offering of a far deeper subject. It's a field of research where more people are trying to delve. I would start with Tom Campbell "The Big Toe" to give you better exploration into some of the behavioral theories i have displayed. You can also do a basic course on psychology which would also evaluate the major points on logic i have identified with you. Everything has a positive and negative and so does you're thought process.

There have been people that have died (technically) and come back. It's actually pretty freaky how uniform their experiences are.

Its not freaky at all. We are all essentially the same, its no surprise the same hormones, same brain activity etc happens at death.

You're not only negative, you're double negative.

Anyway, this is what I believe happens:

1) You die
2) Your brain stops working
3) Consciousness ends, all lifetime's memories are destroyed.

Basically, it'll be like before you were born.

Consciousness doesn't end and memories are stored. (my view)

Like Glaucus said we're all made from the same stuff(stardust?)

OK, so your brain has ceased to function. There is no activity whatsoever, because you just died.

What's maintaining your consciousness?

What's storing your memories?

yes.

it's their dying brain trying to make sense of what is going on. They don't get the white light and jesus greeting them at the gates , they get different things depending on their culture.

You have glands in your brain, upon death I guess they release everything at once and you go to la-la-land for a bit. Must be a hell of a trip.

Look up the 'Akashic Records' this is the place I believe where every thought, action, memory etc is stored for eternity. We only have to tune in to that certain frequency to be able to attain the information. This is why I believe the information has always been there it's just about opening your mind and eyes(or third eye).

I see consciousness as basically your soul/spirit/life force whatever you want to call it. This is a light/energy that can never be diminished and is responsible for maintaining life and your body.

In case you haven't noticed, I haven't actually argued anything yet, so no - I'm not in a debate at all, I simply asked what you know about brains, because I'm interested in knowing more about something I know nothing about.

When someone's telling me how something complicated works, in a place that's full of laymen, I absolutely do try to qualify them, I certainly don't take what they say at face value..

I watched part of the video (Tom Campbell the big toe) and I think he's a charlatan.

I think he's a charlatan because there has been billions of attempts to make things like remote viewing, out of body experiences and other phenomena work and there has never been a single piece of evidence to show that any of it works, then low and behold - he has a website with a load of books being sold.

Remember in the 1950s - all the way through to the 1980s the US and Soviets spent millions on research trying to make it work - which it never did, it has never once worked.

If it does work, if it is possible to travel the astral plane - then everything we know is wrong, because there's no known mechanism in principle, understandable from known laws that would make it go.

I'm not saying these things are impossible, but so far - nobody has even come close to being able to demonstrate it, not even close.
