Whos PS4 has failed so far?

On the plus side, I'm not going mad, thank you. On the negative side that probably means it will not work any better unless Sony do anything about it.

Yeah i thought it was my console to begin with but after it working flawlessly on the other monitor/tv i assume it's just this brand of TV and maybe a few others.

If i have blue screen on in the TV settings it flashes from dark to light blue multiple times anywhere from 10-30 seconds. If i turned it off then it's just dark black to light black and the same time.

No idea why it does it, maybe it's because it's quite an old TV. It's like 6+ years old. I used to get it with a flash or two on the PS3 but the PS4 takes a lot longer to get onto the screen.

I'll see if i can get a youtube video of it and post it up to see if it is similar.

It's probably the same, I almost turned blue screen on yesterday to see if it would flash but I'd put money on it doing so now.

It seems like the PS4 is sending it things it does not understand.

I will not be able to justify a new TV when everything else works so it may be goodbye to the PS4 (it's also noisy)

Mine isn't noisy at all, it's a shame it has that problem though. It's not enough for me to get rid of it as i like it a lot.

I'll just let it keep doing it until my TV dies and i can justify a new TV as it isn't worth it currently when everything else is fine.

Have you ever had any issues with the TV ? I haven't. I fear it may outlast another console generation.

I think the only issues i've had with it was when the signal changed to digital and i had to ring Toshiba to get a card to manually update the Firmware as it wouldn't display any TV. I've had to do that twice so far, other than that though it hasn't skipped a beat in the 6 years i've had it.

I don't mind switching it off, going of to do something then coming back to play though which is what i've been doing. It's annoying but i am not replacing it so it can load up quicker as it's fine in every other department and i don't really want to return my PS4 as i love it.

/edit: Video almost uploaded onto youtube, i'll add it to this post when done.

Here it is.

I'll turn blue screen on when I get home and compare.

I think perhaps I was overreacting, will see how get on over the next week.

My PS4 seems absolutely fine...touch wood...

I have to say I feel more confident in my purchase seeing the turn around they're delivering for you guys, refreshing to see this at launch!

No response to my support query, looked on the EU Support forums and there's quite a few people with similar issues, especially since 1.5.1, at least it eventually displays a picture, some get nothing.

So just to clarify, it DOES actually work on your old Toshiba...it just takes a while?

@ dakaiez that must be an HDMI handshake issue? once it's changed over does the PS4 work OK other than the initial flashing?

Yeah it does work, just takes a while coming up.

I thought it was that to begin with but tried different HDMI cables and slots on the TV anyway just to rule that out.

It does it to begin with when turning the console on or it coming out of standby, otherwise though it's fine once load and games, netflix and so on load fine it's just the same with Blu-Rays and DVD's as well then once loaded fine.

Mine behaves the same as dakaiez's just it doesn't flash because I have blue screen turned off.

Thanks guys for the replies. At least it works I guess! I'd be gutted if it didn't work at all.

A mate is bringing his PS4 round mine next Monday night so I can test it on my Toshiba to see how it behaves. Mine is a 2009 model so maybe it'll be ok?

Ive got a question for everyone that has had there PS4's replaced by sony... If you gotten exstended warnnity or even ur standard one year warnnity's, then the replacement code on ur PS4 wont match that on your Proof of purshe.. Im not even sure if the Ps'4s have codes on them. But i know my 360 does.. So whats gunna be the story with that???

I bought a cheap hdmi switch in the hope that, as per several threads I have read with regard to a/v receivers having issues with tvs that putting it between the PS4 and the TV would allow the PS4 to handshake with it and the switch with the TV....

It works ! I had a false alarm as the extra hdmi cable I bought to accomplish this appears to be faulty but now the picture appears immediately on switching inputs, now to try dvd / blu-ray...

Hi,

My brother has a problem with his 2009 Samsung TV not handshaking with the PS4.

He has no problem with the 3 other LCDs in the house. Can you give me the details of the hdmi switch you bought. I don't wanna buy a cheap eBay one if that doesn't work also.

Tried updating the LCD firmware too with no avail.

Duronic HDS3, remember your results may vary, as per the threads I read regarding a/v receivers, this switch just happens to work with my setup.
