Hi everyone,
I just need a place to vent, and as this sub forum is quite popular it seems to be a good place for it.
Now I will admit, DOTA2 itself, purely as a game, is actually great. However, the whole model concerning matchmaking is...broken.
A friend of mine introduced me to the game and it has one of the steepest learning curves imaginable, but this is OK, right? Many games are like this.
However, because this game is "free" it seems like everyone has at least 539 steam accounts with 1 game - DOTA2. Obviously, these are secondary, tertiary, quaternary, quinary, senary, septenary, octonary, nonary and so on accounts. This means that people who are new to the game get matched up against those who realistically have a few hundred hours under their belt and consequently get the **** kicked out of them.
Allow me to draw a comparison - I've played the Counter Strike series of games since say, 1.3. Needless to say, I'm an experienced CS player (like I'm sure many of you are).
Now, would you take a team of newcomers and pitch them against season veterans immediately? No, of course you wouldn't, but this is what it feels like in DOTA2. It's completely relentless, unforgiving and unwelcoming to new players.
