*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

Cheers Rusty, just sideloaded the update.
I though having a Nexus device meant not having the wait for updates. 4.4.1 came out yesterday and I was still waiting :D

I'm joining the club. The camera update has made the phone what I hoped it would be. Am looking forward to having a phone that has lots of space and a good camera.

The 4.4.1 update has made the Nexus 5 one of the best Android devices on the market.

Sound is much better
Camera is faster and produces better pictures
OS is fast and snappier

More of this Google. I hope next they change the camera UI so you don't have menus inside menus. More polished would be nicer.

You can't push out an update to hundreds of thousands of phones at the same time. It needs to be staggered.
Its not down to server load either, it's to catch potential bugs whilst a small percentage of users have the update.

It already was.

+1 - Updated through CWM

Let's see if Google have made some tweaks to the battery management as well and there's an improvement in the battery department.

I'm switching to the Nexus 5 from the LG G2 as my daily driver for the time being as Google have done an excellent job with the 4.4.1 update.

Well done Google!

I was kidding matey. Hence the smiley. :)
I just couldn't wait.
Speaker better, headphones louder and better quality. Camera is amazing now.
ART working with Whatsapp
Completeness :D

Is ART better than Dvalik?

its in testing stages so I wouldn't relay on it too much, some apps don't work with it enabled.

the good bits are that the apps start up quicker but personally I'm sticking with dalvik until it's out of testing stages and more "Warmed up" right now it's a new thing that will have problems and I don't feel like messing around too much with my daily phone.

Just found out that as I'm in Canada, my phone will be the NA model (obviously), which means that when I come back the UK in March/April next year, it won't work on LTE as it uses a different LTE band.

Gutted!

Not sure what to do, might send it back when it arrives and just use my iPhone 4 for another 4 months before we leave.
So annoying!

Sound through headphone sis defo much much better now. Before it was totally flat but now its actually rather good.

PS. Also notice that some apps are now no longer blown and now fit the screen. One such app is InstaFollow which on 4.4 did not show the full interface but now on 4.4.1 fits the screen
